INDIA: The power hub of talent, Ranveer Singh, who is recently busy promoting his upcoming large-scale rom-com movie, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, is said to be the new lead for the Don franchise.

The Don franchise was previously headed by Amitabh Bachchan and then by Shah Rukh Khan. However, SRK reportedly withdrew from the film because he preferred to work on commercial projects that would have a wider public appeal.

Reports are surfaced that Ranveer purposefully released the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani trailer two days before his birthday to make the sapce for the Don 3 announcement.

The reports further claimed that today (July 6), the Salaar team released the teaser of Prabhas starrer, and Excel Entertainment wasn’t sure if it would be wise to launch their asset on the same day as the Prashanth Neel’s directorial film.

Reportedly, a lot of announcements are being made in July since the teaser of Jawan, starring SRK, is anticipated to come out just after Salaar, this lead to the delay in the Don 3 announcement.

Currently, everything hinges on how the Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani turns out, the film’s box office triumph will provide Ranveer the much-needed success, reports revealed.

A date of announcement for Don is still unknown; reportedly, if Ranveer’s upcoming film bags successful box office numbers, then the team may announce the project in August.

Talking about the Don franchise, the first film starring Amitabh Bachchan was released in 1978. Later, in 2006, Farhan Akhtar rebooted the film with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. The SRK film also bagged a sequel in 2011. Now, as per reports, Ranveer Singh will replace SRK in the upcoming film.

If we look at Ranveer Singh’s box office performance, all his recent releases, such as Kabir Khan’s 83, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, and Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus, bombed at the box office. All hopes for the actor now depend on Karan Johar’s RRKPK.
