INDIA: After winning the second-best picture award at The Hollywood Critics Association Midseason Awards 2022, SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus, RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, continues to fascinate Hollywood even after more than three months since its theatrical debut.
Jon Spaihts praises RRR
Another Hollywood artist applauds the grand conclusion of revolutionary heroes. Jon Spaihts, who is responsible for penning Hollywood blockbusters like Dune, Doctor Strange, and Passengers, recently tweeted his admiration for RRR.
The famed Hollywood writer tweeted, “Holy hell, RRR. Has any movie ever packed more movie into a movie? What a ride. Still thinking about it a couple of days later.”
RRR’s craze in Hollywood
Many people may wonder how the RRR fever spread quickly throughout Hollywood. After Rajamouli’s epic tale was aired on Netflix, the film’s popularity has since soared to new heights. But once more, what makes RRR so unique that Hollywood is so enamoured with it? The simple explanation is that RRR was indeed the primary mass entertainer.
It can be compared to early Hollywood blockbusters, which were pure entertainment in a single course regardless of sequels and spinoffs. Every movie in Hollywood today attempts to develop its franchise, or perhaps a universe. This can sometimes be beneficial, but the repetitive patterns elicit a sense of boredom.
The second important aspect is that Bollywood is the only source of information Hollywood has about Indian movies. Their view of these movies is based on the idea that they include a hero who breaks out into full-on dance in the middle of a corny romantic movie. However, RRR was a breath of fresh air regarding how they perceived Indian cinema, propelling Rajamouli’s magnum opus into the trending category.
RRR spotlight the narrative of two revolutionary freedom fighters from history, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, who embarks on the struggle for freedom from the British Raj.
The story follows a fictionalized version of these legendary heroes that begins with Britishers forcibly abducting a Gond girl Malli, provoking Bheem to go on the hunt for the Britishers. On the other hand, Ram is an ally or, to put it another way, a hardcore policeman under the domain of the British Raj who is resolute in pursuing his goal.
The tale revolves around what will happen when these two powerful forces collide and who will emerge victoriously.
Ensemble cast:
Jr NTR as Komaram Bheem, a Telangana’s Gond tribal warrior who battled the British Empire and the tyrannical Nizam of Hyderabad. Ram Charan, as Alluri Sitarama Raju, Andhra Pradesh’s revolutionary leader, launched an armed struggle against the British Raj.
Ajay Devgan as Venkata Rama Raju, Ray Stevenson as Governor Scott Buxton, Shriya Saran as Sarojini, Olivia Morris as Jenny, Makarand Deshpande as Peddanna, and Alia Bhatt as Sita.
