INDIA: Bollywood starlet Sara Ali Khan will soon be seen playing a freedom fighter in her upcoming patriotic web movie “Ae Watan Mere Watan,” which has been announced by well-known OTT platform Amazon Prime Video.

The first look at Sara’s forthcoming film has been released ahead of India’s 74th Republic Day celebrations.

On Monday, Karan Johar, the producer, dropped the teaser of the movie on social media platforms with the caption, “An ode to the unsung heroes.” “An ode to India’s freedom struggle.”

The riveting video takes viewers back to a bygone era, where they see Sara assembling a radio-like apparatus by connecting vacuum tubes in a poorly lit room.

As she starts speaking on the radio, she conveys the message of independence to the whole nation until she is interrupted by the constant knocking at the door.

Speaking about her role, Sara said: “I am so excited and honoured to get the opportunity to be a part of a film that I truly believe deserves to be told.” “As an actor and, more importantly, as an Indian, I am proud to be able to portray a character that echoes bravery, strength, and courage.”

The thriller-drama film is inspired by true events and follows the recount of the brave journey of a college girl from Bombay, who later becomes a freedom fighter.

This fictitious story is set against the backdrop of 1942’s Quit India Movement. It is a tale of the bravery, sacrifice, patriotism, and resourcefulness of the nation’s youth.

Speaking about the movie, Karan Johar said, “Dharmatic Entertainment is glad to be teaming up with Prime Video yet again to create a masterpiece—Ae Watan Mere Watan.”

For director Kannan Iyer, directing this tale based on actual incidents from the extremely perilous times of India’s freedom struggle is a matter of tremendous pride.

The film’s creators have also stated that the story is not an Usha Mehta biopic.

A Dharmatic Entertainment production, “Ae Watan Mere Watan,” is being produced by Apoorva Mehta of Dharmatic and Karan Johar, with Somen Mishra as the co-producer.

It is written jointly by Kannan Iyer and Darab Farooqui. The movie will be available on Amazon Prime Video.
