INDIA: The much-anticipated bilateral meetings between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping will take place at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Uzbekistan on September 15 and 16. The meeting’s key motive is to focus on India-Russian cooperation at the UN, its bilateral trade-economic cooperation and many other serious issues.

During a media interaction, a presidential aide and Former Chairman of the Bureau of the Central Committee, Yuri Ushakov, said, “A conversation on the international agenda with PM Modi will also take place. This will be the first time Modi and Xi Jinping will hold a meeting before their meeting at Brasília on the outskirts of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) in 2019.

In the meantime, both countries will discuss the possibilities of multilateral cooperation. According to reports, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi are looking forward to attending the SCO meeting. On the other hand, Iranian President Raisi wants to hold a meeting with Modi because Iran is keen to resume its crude exports to India.
