AUSTRALIA: Sydney Sixers defeats Adelaide Strikers by 4 wickets and with this victory, the Sydney Sixers jump to the no.1 spot in the Big Bash League points table. In this match after winning the toss, Adelaide Strikers decided to bat first.

Sydney Sixers Sean Abbott removed the openers

Adelaide Strikers opener Matthew Short was off to a good start as he was scoring at a strike rate of 200 but Sydney Sixers Sean Abbott removed both the openers of Adelaide Strikers to restrict them to 25/2 after 3.1 overs.

Matthew Short scored 16 runs off 8 deliveries which included 2 fours and 1 six while the other opener Jake Weatherald scored 6 runs off 11 deliveries which included 1 four. After they both got out, Matt Renshaw and Jonathan Wells put up a 59 run stand to reconstruct the Adelaide Strikers innings.

Jonathan Wells was the aggressor in this partnership as he scored 32 runs off just 19 deliveries which included 2 fours and 2 sixes while Matt Renshaw scored 24 runs off 23 deliveries which included 2 fours. Just when things were looking a little better for the Strikers, Daniel Christian removed both Jonathan Wells and Matt Renshaw in quick successions and Adelaide Strikers were 89/4 after 11.1 overs.

After that Adelaide Strikers kept losing quick wickets and only Thomas Kelly showed some resistance but none of the other batsmen supported him and as a result, Adelaide Strikers scored 147/8 after 20 overs.

For Sydney Sixers, Sean Abbott and Daniel Christian took 3 wickets while Hayden Kerr and Lloyd Pope took 1 wicket each.

Josh Philippe and James Vince gave Sydney Sixers a decent start. They both added 42 runs in the mandatory powerplay. Fawad Ahmed gave Adelaide Strikers their first breakthrough as he got rid of James Vince who scored 21 runs off 24 deliveries which included 3 fours and Sydney Sixers were 44/1 after 6.5 overs.

Josh Philippe got out on the very next over after the departure of his opening partner James Vince. Philippe scored 23 runs off 20 deliveries which included 1 four and 1 six. Sixers also lost their third wicket in the form of Daniel Hughes (7) and Sydney Sixers were 63/3 after 9.5 overs.

After that, Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk put up a 52 runs partnership. Moises Henriques scored 28 runs off 26 deliveries which included 2 fours and a six. Moises Henriques got out off a delivery bowled by Rashid Khan.

Rashid Khan picked up another wicket in the next delivery as Daniel Christian got out off the first ball that he faced and Sydney Sixers were 115/5 after 16.3 overs. Jordan Silk and Sean Abbott stitched up a 19 run crucial partnership.

Jordan Silk played a really good knock as he scored 36 runs off 24 deliveries which included 5 fours. After Silk got out, Sean Abbott scored 19 off 10 deliveries which included 2 fours and he was well supported by Hayden Kerr who scored 8 runs off just 2 deliveries which included 1 six and Sydney Sixers chased down the target in 19.2 overs and won the match by 4 wickets.

For Adelaide Strikers, Rashid Khan took 3 wickets, George Garton took 2 wickets and Fawad Ahmed took 1 wicket.
