INDIA. Mumbai: Mumbai’s iconic superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, has been granted Y+ security cover following concerns of potential threats. The actor, who recently delivered back-to-back blockbusters ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan,’ is now under the watchful eye of heightened security.

According to a report in the Indian Express, security agencies in Maharashtra have upgraded Shah Rukh Khan’s security to the Y+ category due to “imminent and probable” threats to the beloved actor.

While authorities in Mumbai have confirmed the increased security detail, they have remained tight-lipped about the specific nature of the threats facing SRK.

On October 5, the Maharashtra State Intelligence Department (SID) issued a directive to all police commissionerates, district police, and special protection units (SPUs) in the state, instructing them to provide Y+ security with an escort scale to Shah Rukh Khan, effective immediately.

This decision came after a recent high-level committee meeting that reviewed the threats and security concerns surrounding the actor.

As part of his enhanced security, Shah Rukh Khan will be provided with 11 security personnel, including 6 commandos, 4 police personnel, and a traffic clearance vehicle. These officers will be stationed at the actor’s residence, Mannat, in Mumbai, ensuring his safety around the clock.

It’s worth noting that Shah Rukh Khan will bear the cost of his security, and this arrangement will remain in place until further recommendations from the high-level committee and a review committee decision.

According to another report by News18, the Y+ security provision comes in response to threat perceptions that have arisen following Shah Rukh Khan’s consecutive blockbusters, Jawan and Pathaan, released earlier this year.

The notification, issued by Dilip Sawant, special IGP, VIP security, emphasizes the need to provide this security detail to avoid any untoward incidents during Shah Rukh Khan’s visits, engagements, and stays in various jurisdictions.

This move follows a similar increase in security for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in November 2022 when his security cover was elevated to the Y+ category due to alleged threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The safety of celebrities remains a top priority in the entertainment industry, and measures like these are taken to ensure their protection amidst potential risks.
