INDIA: Tanu Weds Manu, famed Swara Bhasker, is famous for her bold takes on feminism. The actor is politically active and often speaks her heart out about heated topics in the country.
Recently, the actress tied the knot with the president of Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha, Fahad Ahmad, on January 6, 2023, in a court marriage under the Special Marriage Act. However, later, they cherished their wedding and got hitched on March 13, 2023, followed by a grand star-studded reception.
Recently in an interaction with media houses, the newlywed Swara and Fahad discussed the key to a healthy relationship as they recalled their journey from friendship to love.
Swara said, “I don’t want to give counsel because our relationship is still in its early stages. But I believe that we were able to be together because we acknowledged that we came from different backgrounds. Love is fraught with social pressure in India. Young couples in India must battle with caste, class, and religion… But if you love each other, you must overcome your fear.”
The actor also applauded her husband’s nature and called him a supportive partner. She added, saying, “We must accept that we are two distinct individuals with distinct backgrounds and lived experiences. I would suggest that you should not fundamentally change who you are, but it is acceptable to venture beyond your comfort zone. That is how one learns.”
Thus, Fahad called his better half a non-judgmental person and hailed her supportive nature towards him. Swara also clarified that the “youth in India have to battle caste, class, and religion, but if you love each other, then fight the fear”. Thus, she claimed that love in India comes with a lot of ‘societal pressures’ that one needs to overcome.
