INDIA: External Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, who often takes a dig at India’s neighbouring countries, unveiled the Marathi translation of his book – ‘The India Way’. The EAM mentioned China and Pakistan in his statements as he held a bilateral meeting discussing global and national issues.

S Jaishankar launched the Marathi translation of his book ‘The India Way’

S Jaishankar was asked if Pakistan is an asset or a liability for India, to which he said, “You get what you get in life. Just as we were unable to choose our neighbours, neither could the Pandavas. Naturally, we hope that common sense wins out, that our past mistakes are not repeated, and that optimism is a key component of diplomacy.”

S Jaishankar went off to Pune to launch ‘Bharat Marg’. As the statement of the foreign minister recorded, he highlighted India’s current position in the entire world. He mentioned that in the last eight to nine years, the country will be a leading power once it achieves ‘atmanirbhar’ (self-sufficiency).

Jaishankar urged people to go through the book as it is written in single languages. He briefed the book by saying, “The first chapter tells the story of two nawabs who, while playing chess, lost Awadh to the British East India Company. The second chapter discusses globalisation and the difficulties it poses, and the third chapter discusses the ‘dogmas’ of Delhi that are historically defined and confined.”

He mentioned, “The fourth has to do with world politics. Some people assert that we examine the world from our ivory towers. I don’t think we should hand over foreign policy to the mandarins. The public must also be heard. We should take into consideration the sentiments of others when formulating our foreign policy.”

External Foreign Minister also put stress on the major concerning factors of India, discussing the COVID-19 global epidemic, the Afghanistan crisis, the Russia-Ukraine war, and how international tensions affect the world.
