INDIA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, flagged off Kerala’s first Vande Bharat train from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod. Modi landed in Kerala’s Kochi last evening and held a massive roadshow during his two-day visit. The supremo donned the traditional Kerala costume and was seen waving to people on both sides of the 2-km route from the INS Garuda naval air station to the youth conclave.

The PM, while addressing “Yuvam 2023,” brought the limelight on the infrastructure changes in Kerala initiated by the Central government. Modi said, “While the previous governments indulged in corruption in every sector, the BJP government is giving opportunities to the youth in every sector. Through vocal for local, we are encouraging local products, we have given opportunities to the youth in space and defence. We have increased manufacturing and exports in the country.”

Modi underlined how India transformed from a “From Fragile 5” to the “Fastest growing economy”. The major event took place amid receiving a suicide bomber threat letter, however, this is not the first time Modi has shown courage towards such a menace; earlier in many such occurrences, he had challenged the faint of heart.

Besides this, on the arrival of Thiruvananthapuram, Modi also launched the Kochi water metro and laid the foundation stone for a Rs 1,500-crore digital science park.

However, Kerala has always had a strong grip on the saffron party; thus, the party initiated a programme called “Sneha Yatra”, as part of which party leaders visited Christian and Muslim homes during Easter and Eid to make them feel secure and comfortable. Now, UDF Pathanamthitta chairperson Victor Thomas left the Kerala Congress Party yesterday and joined the BJP.
