INDIA: Vivo has recently launched its new flagship-grade X90 and X90 Pro smartphones in India, featuring advanced ZEISS cameras and a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC.

While the X90 series was introduced last year in China with the X90 Pro+ smartphone, which has been skipped for the Indian market, the new X90 and X90 Pro are expected to attract high-end smartphone users with their impressive specifications and features.

The smartphone’s camera has several functions, including handheld astronomy mode, Zeiss landscape and architecture mode, and 4K video recording.

In terms of performance, the X90 Pro is powered by the 4nm MediaTek 9200 5G chipset and the Immortalis G715 GPU. It supports 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage and up to 12GB of RAM.

With compatibility for both 50W wireless charging and 120W rapid cable charging, the device’s 4,870mAh battery provides a 50% charge in just 8 minutes, 10 seconds.

The X90 Pro also features an in-built vapour cooling system for better thermal management and an X-axis linear motor that delivers improved gaming performance. It runs on FunTouch OS 13, based on Android 13, with the promise of three years of Android and security updates.

Other features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, dual stereo speakers, and an IP68 rating. The gadget comes in the colour Legendary Black.

Vivo X90: specifications and features

The Vivo X90 is a slightly trimmed-down version of the X90 Pro. The device features the same display and processor as the X90 Pro but comes with a curved screen housed within a glass-back enclosure surrounded by an aluminium chassis. The X90’s button placement, speakers, and ports are the same as those of the X90 Pro.

In terms of optics, the circular array design of the X90 Pro is retained in the X90 as well. The device has a 50MP Sony IMX866 VCS bionic spectrum primary camera, along with a 12MP IMX663 portrait sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide camera.

The front camera is 32 MP. The X90’s optics are also co-engineered with Zeiss and feature the certified Zeiss T* coating on all the rear cameras, with a dedicated V2 chip as a standalone

In terms of software, both the X90 and X90 Pro run on FunTouch OS 13, based on Android 13. Vivo has promised to provide three years of Android and security updates for both devices. Other features include dual stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and an IP68 rating.

The Vivo X90 and X90 Pro are available in India starting April 26, 2023. The X90 Pro is priced at INR 59,990 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, while the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant is priced at INR 69,990.

The X90, on the other hand, is priced at INR 49,990 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant and INR 54,990 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. Both devices are available for purchase on Vivo’s official website, as well as other online and offline stores.

Overall, the Vivo X90 and X90 Pro are impressive flagship smartphones that offer a great combination of powerful hardware and advanced camera features.

The partnership with Zeiss has resulted in some excellent optics, and the devices’ support for fast charging and 5G connectivity make them a great choice for power users. However, the slightly high price may be a turn-off for some buyers.
