INDIA: The first instalment of Mani Ratnam’s historical drama Ponniyin Selvan is set to release on September 30, 2022, and following the same, a teaser has now been officially released.
Amitabh Bachchan, Mahesh Babu, Suriya, Mohanlal, and Rakshit Shetty unveiled the teaser in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
All the stars posted the teaser on their social media handles. The tagline for the teaser read, “The Cholas Are Coming! #PS1.” Before the teaser was released, Lyca Production teased the audience about releasing the official clip featuring several actors from the Indian film industry.
The teaser emerges as a captivating joyride
The teaser begins with an expansive view of the fortress from the top, featuring warriors marching on horseback and ships cruising toward the battlefield. The drum beats gradually increase in intensity with each second, boosting the excitement. Then we hear Vikram’s character remark, “This wine, song, blood, and war!” All this to forget. Forget her…forget myself.” The dialogue undoubtedly reinforces his charismatic persona, which he imparts to each exhilarating scene in the clip.
Mani Ratnam’s vision for this forthcoming historical epic is confirmed throughout the teaser. The multi-star cast shines brightly in the official trailer. The visual spectacle brilliantly enthrals all of the emotions of each star in a matter of seconds. Building on the buzz, the teaser is now ranked third in YouTube’s trending section.
The makers formally unveil the outstanding poster of Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varman. Previously, the film’s creator released additional visuals of Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Karthi as Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Queen Nandini. On Thursday, Lyca Productions released the poster of Trisha Krishnan as Princess Kundavai. In the crucial roles, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, and Prathiban round up the outstanding cast.
Mani Ratnam’s tented magnum opus focuses on the great Chola empire
Mani Ratnam’s film Ponniyin Selvan is an adaptation of the 1950 Tamil novel of the same name by Kalki Krishnamurthy, which chronicles the saga of Chola Prince Arunmozhi Varman, known as Ponniyin Selvan, who subsequently rose to become the great Chola emperor Raja Raja Chola and established the golden age in Indian history. The story is set in the 10th century, before the Ponniyin Selvan era. The film will be released worldwide in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Ponniyin Selvan: I is one of the most expensive Indian films, with a budget of 500 crores. Produced under the banner of Lyca Productions and Madaras Talkies, the film is gearing up for its release in two instalments on September 30, 2022. With Elango Kumaravel and B. Jeyamohan, director Mani Ratnam penned the script for his tented magnum opus.
