INDIA: The most popular and cherished actor in Tamil Cinema, actor Vijay has completed more than 68 films in the film industry, leaving a benchmark of success and accomplishments. However, the actor is venturing into a completely new space and is going to try his luck there.
As per reports, he will be debuting soon in politics and will be taking a 3-year break from acting after completing his 68th film.
Thalapthy Vijay to enter politics?
Vijay is currently busy shooting for his film Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Besides this, the talented actor has also signed up for his next film, Thalapathy 68, with filmmaker Venkat Prabhu. Leo is set to release in theatres on October 19. On the other hand, Thalapathy 68 will be on the grounds in January 2024.
As per reports, Vijay would temporarily stop acting in movies in order to focus on the state assembly elections in Tamil Nadu in 2026. Though it is still unknown if Vijay will enter politics, his fan club, the Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, has taken part in local elections. It is rumoured that the club’s members will run for urban local bodies as an independent group without seeking out or supporting any other political parties.
The recent social media buzz over Vijay taking a hiatus for three years has left his followers feeling both thrilled and sad. Fans are excited that their beloved actor will enter politics, but they are also concerned that they will miss the actor’s movies.
This is not the first time that an actor has reportedly put his acting career on hold to pursue a career in politics. MG Ramachandran and Kamal Haasan did the same thing in the past and returned to the film industry after a short absence.
Vijay’s political career hasn’t been officially confirmed yet and it remains subject to speculation. More information about the same is awaited.
