Three Afghan Female Journalists Shot Dead

Officials at Enikas TV confirmed that two of its employees, Mursal Habibi and Saadia were killed, and another employee named Nazia was wounded in the attack

AFGHANISTAN. Jalalabad: A group of armed men shot dead three female journalists in the Jalalabad province of Afghanistan on Tuesday evening, according to Nangarhar officials. According to the reports, the journalists were the employees of Enhikass TV.

Officials at Enikas TV confirmed that two of its employees, Mursal Habibi and Saadia were killed, and another employee named Nazia was wounded in the attack at around 4:00 pm on Tuesday. They also added some unknown gunmen were behind the attack.

Several Jalalabad new media outlets reported that the car of Enhikass TV personnel was targeted by armed men in two different attacks. The gunmen had reportedly left the area after shooting the journalists.

Farid khan, a spokesman for the Nangarhar police chief said, three female journalists were killed in an armed group attack in the province. He also added that an investigation was launched into the incident. Meanwhile, no group has claimed the responsibility for the attack.  

On Thursday, a group of armed men attacked the house of Bismillah Adil, a journalist who was assassinated near his home by armed men on January 1, 2020 leaving three of his family members dead and more wounded.

In November 2020, Malala Maiwand, another female journalist of Enhikass TV was associated along with her driver when she was heading to her work.
