Uttar Pradesh to Become the ‘India’s Economic Powerhouse’, Says Indian Ambassador Taranjit Sandhu

INDIA. Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh is on track to become a major economic force in India, according to Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the Indian ambassador to the US, who spoke at the UP Global Investors Summit about the ‘New India Growth Engine Program.’

In recent years, the most populous state in India has captured the interest of numerous business firms and created a business-friendly environment.

Under Yogi Adityanath, the state has emerged as the top defense corridor, world-class data center, and excellent connectivity projects. The UP finance minister Suresh Kumar Khanna mentioned that the state aims to make a USD1 trillion economy in the future. 

He said, “Uttar Pradesh’s exports were ₹88 thousand crores, which has increased to ₹1.56 lakh crore today. Our economy did well even during the time of Corona. We want to make Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion economy.”

Khanna added, “UP has electricity, security, land, and connectivity. Our target is for an investment of ₹10 lakh crores. Netherlands, Denmark, Singapore, France, the UK, and Mauritius have shown enthusiasm.” The state has a population of 240 million, mostly young, which will help in the growth of the state. 

Taranjit Singh Sandhu said, “The industry stakeholders present here have been strong pillars of the India-US relationship. They are eagerly looking forward to taping opportunities present in Uttar Pradesh. UP, with a population of 240 million, is the most populous state. Imagine the landscape which is going to change, and that is why the investors need to be there when the changes are undertaken.”

The Indian-origin foreign delicacy further attracted notice by noting that healthcare and investment prospects are both reasonably priced.
