Virat Kohli: Only Cricketer to End Two T20 World Cups as “Leading Run-scorer”

The batsman ends the WC 2022 with 296 runs in six matches with an average of 98.66

INDIA: In the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli made four half-centuries. His best inning was an 82* in the classic against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

He also finished as the highest run-scorer in the 2014 T20 World Cup. In that tournament, he scored 319 runs in six matches, averaging 106.33 runs per match. He had hit four half-centuries, the highest of which was a 77.

Virat Kohli had led all T20 World Cup run scorers before the beginning of the competition. He has scored 1,141 runs at an average of 81.50 in 27 matches.

Across all T20 World Cups he has played in, he has hit 14 half-centuries, with an individual best of 89*.

In the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli’s heroics were not enough to secure the second T20 World Cup title for the Indian team. India previously won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007.

Millions of Indian cricket fans were devastated when England eliminated the Men in Blue in the ICC T20 World Cup semi-finals. On Thursday’s second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup at Adelaide, England defeated India by 10 wickets thanks to the big-hitting from openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales.

India ended the group stage by topping the Group 2 table with eight points, having won four of their five matches. India’s only defeat in the group stage came during their matchup with South Africa.

Suryakumar Yadav made 239 runs in 6 innings with 3 half-centuries. Pacer Arshdeep Singh (10 wickets) and all-rounder Hardik Pandya (128 runs with one fifty and 8 wickets) were other star performers for India in the tournament.

Virat Kohli was the 2022 T20 World Cup’s top run-scorer, scoring 296 runs in 6 innings.
