Zimbabwe Defeats Bangladesh By 23 Runs To Level The 3-Match T20I Series

ZIMBABWE: Zimbabwe defeats Bangladesh in the 2nd T20I of 3-match T20I series of Bangladesh’s tour of Zimbabwe. Bangladesh lost their first match of the tour. Bangladesh has already won the Test and One Day series and also the first T20I. Now this series heads towards a decider on Sunday and it’ll decide that who is going to win the 3-match T20I series.

In this 2nd T20I, Zimbabwe won the toss and they decided to bat first. Tadiwanashe Marumani and Wesley Madhevere were opening the batting for Zimbabwe. Bangladesh got an early breakthrough as Marumani got out after scoring just 3 runs off 5 deliveries. After that Regis Chakabva joined Madhevere in the middle and he was looking good but after scoring a four and six he got out and Zimbabwe was 42/2 after 5.2 overs.

After the wicket of Chakabva, Dion Myers joined Madhevere and they both stitched up a 57 run partnership. Dion Myers looked good but he got out after scoring 26 runs off 21 deliveries and after that Zimbabwe kept losing wickets. Wesley Madhevere completed his 3rd T20I half-century but because of the lack of support from the other end, Zimbabwe was struggling to put up a decent target. After Madhevere got out Zimbabwe were 139/5 after 17.4 overs. Then for Zimbabwe Ryan Burl played a great cameo as he scored 34 runs off just 19 deliveries and helped Zimbabwe put on a competitive total of 166/6 after 20 overs. For Bangladesh Shoriful Islam took 3 wickets while Mahedi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan both took 1 wicket and one wicket was the result of a run out which was done by Soumya Sarkar.

When Bangladesh came out to bat their both openers Mohammad Naim and Soumya Sarkar failed to give Bangladesh a good start and as a result, Bangladesh was 17/2 after 2.4 overs. After that Mahedi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan, both tried to help Bangladesh innings but Shakib got out after scoring 12 runs off 10 deliveries and after Shakib got out next batsman Mahmudullah also got out cheaply.

Bangladesh was struggling at 53/5 after 8.4 overs and after 11.2 overs Bangladesh was 68/6. Nurul Hasan and Atif Hossain both tried to help Bangladesh recover. But After they both got out Bangladesh was 127/8 after 17.1 overs and soon after that Bangladesh got all out at 143 runs at 19.5 overs and Zimbabwe won the match by 23 runs. For Zimbabwe, Luke Jongwe and Wellington Masakadza both took 3 wickets each, and Blessing Muzarabani and Tendai Chatara both took 2 wickets each.
