The NCC, according to the ADG, is doing an excellent job of shaping the future of the kids and inspiring them to contribute to the nation’s development.

Based on guidelines released by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Maharashtra is in the process of adopting NCC as a General Elective Credit Course under the Choice Based Credit System” in degree colleges in the coming academic years.

NCC as a Credit Course is designed with an intent to transform NCC training into a curricular activity from an extracurricular activity, thereby providing academic credits to students undergoing NCC Training.

The course would help students opting for it, and better their prospects of joining the armed and paramilitary forces. This will enable 66 colleges in Maharashtra to adopt NCC as an elective subject.

ADG Maj Gen Khanduri and other officials already had discussions with Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Mumbai University Vice-Chancellor Suhas Pednekar to discuss modalities of implementing ‘NCC studies’ as an optional subject facilitating credits to NCC cadets in degree college.
