INDIA: Raksha Bandhan, starring Akshay Kumar, made its debut on August 11, 2022. The family entertainer film received favourable reviews from critics and a range of reactions from viewers. The movie completed the second day of its theatrical run, and the box office numbers have arrived.

Indian critic and Trade analyst Taran Adarsh unveiled the box office number on his Twitter handle. The tweet read, “#RakshaBandhan declines on Day 2… National chains remain extremely low… Mass belt is driving its biz… 2-day total is underwhelming… Needs to have a miraculous turnaround from Sat-Mon… Thu 8.20 cr, Fri 6.40 cr. Total: ₹ 14.60 cr. #India biz.”

Raksha Bandhan faced a major drop at the box office on its second day

On the second day of its release, the film starring Akshay Kumar suffered a dramatic drop in ticket sales. Raksha Bandhan grossed ₹ 8.2 crores at the box office on its first day. The second day saw a significant drop in revenue, with only ₹ 6.40 crores collected. The film’s total earnings have now reached ₹ 14.60 crores.

Anand L. Rai’s film premiered on the auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan. The movie also focused on the festival’s theme, specifically on the bond between siblings. Nonetheless, the film falls short of expectations. The family entertainer failed to captivate the audience according to the box office results.

Akshay Kumar’s prior film release this year also saw a significant decline at the box office. Sacnilk.com reports that Bachchhan Paandey earned ₹ 13.25 crores on its first day, putting it in second place for the highest opening in 2022, although the film still fell into the underperformed category. On the day of its release, Akshay’s second film, Samrat Prithviraj, grossed ₹ 10.7 crores. Raksha Bandhan has the lowest opening day box office collection of any Akshay Kumar film.

Raksha Bandhan also clashed with Amir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, which may have contributed to the box office dip. However, Laal Singh Chaddha debuted rather decent compared to Raksha Bandhan at the box office, but it fizzled and failed to entice audiences to the theatres.
