INDIA: Deepak Tinu, one of the suspects in the murder of Punjabi musician and Congressman Sidhu Moosewala, has managed to elude capture by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which is a shocking development in the case.

Tinu, a close associate of mobster Lawrence Bishnoi, allegedly fled on Saturday night after the Mansa police hauled him in under a product demand from the Goindwal Sahib jail in connection with another case.

Following this incident, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has threatened the Punjab and Haryana Police, warning them not to murder Tinu in an encounter or they will suffer the repercussions.

The warning, which was posted on Facebook and was written in Punjabi, loosely translates as “This post is specifically for the Punjab and Haryana Police Department. Our brother, Tinu, alias Deepak, managed to get away from the cops. To ensure that nothing untoward occurs to him, we are publishing this post.

It further said, “Police are free to continue their investigation, but don’t pressure us to take any further measures because he shouldn’t suffer any harm. You will be held responsible for Tinu’s actions if anything bad happens to him.”

The Inspector General of the Bathinda Range, Mukhwinder Singh Chhina, responded to a phone question about the incident by saying, “We are working on it. Police parties are on the job, and we will catch him shortly.”

BJP accuses AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal

The BJP has criticised the Bhagwant Mann administration in Punjab, alleging that it is promoting gang activity rather than maintaining law and order.

Shehzad Poonawalla, the national spokesperson for the BJP, said on Twitter on Sunday morning that the AAP administration was not serious about fighting organised crime in Punjab and that Tinu was able to flee because of insufficient security measures.

Akali leader and former union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said in her tweet, “While Pb CM @BhagwantMann is busy dancing Garba in Gujarat, Sidhu Moosewala killer Deepak Tinu escapes from police custody after being allowed use of phones & taken out without handcuffs in a private car late at night. No wonder there is Gangster Raj under @AAPPunjab.”

Congress MLA from Jalandhar Cantt Pargat Singh said, “This reflects poorly on @PunjabPoliceInd   and AAP Govt. Meanwhile, an unconcerned CM @BhagwantMann is busy playing Garba in Gujarat.”

The politician Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga exploited the occasion to criticise the AAP administration in Punjab, asserting — without providing any evidence — that the accused’s escape was only made possible by the state government’s complicity.

“Without the assistance of the government, it is impossible for Sidhu Mussewala’s murderer Deepak Tinu to escape from the High-Security Prison. After removing Sidhu Musewala’s protection, @ArvindKejriwal and @raghav Chadha made the move public. Now, it cannot be a coincidence that a large-scale murderer managed to escape from such security,” tweeted Bagga.

Case of Sidhu Moosewala’s murder

On May 29, a village in Mansa was attacked by gunfire, killing well-known singer and Congress politician Shubhdeep Singh, well known as Sidhu Moosewala.

Unknown assailants fired constantly for around ten minutes, totalling about thirty rounds. Within 15 minutes of the attack, he passed away, and two other passengers who were travelling with him were sent to Patiala for additional care.

Following the assassination, Lawrence Bishnoi gang member Goldy Brar made a murderous confession. In the murder case, 24 people have been charged, including Tinu.
