F1 Academy Launched by Formula 1: All-women Racing Series Will Debut in 2023

0

UNITED KINGDOM: The F1 Academy, Formula 1’s own all-female driver division, has been announced. The sport hopes this will eventually result in a female racer on the Formula 1 grid.

The series will begin in 2023, and F1 claims it will provide young women an “extra route” up the motorsports pyramid alongside the W Series. This all-female championship will return for its fourth season next year despite financial difficulties cutting short its 2022 season.

Lella Lombardi was the last female F1 driver in 1976

With the introduction of F1 Academy, Formula 1 hopes to help women drivers to get into Formula 3 and nourish the drivers in their goal of progressing into Formula 2 and then Formula 1.

Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of Formula 1 said everyone should have the opportunity to follow their dreams and fulfill their potential. He added that Formula 1 wants to ensure greater diversity in the sport while creating more routes into the “incredible sport.”

Domenicali said providing young female drivers with more opportunities would be better. According to him, the design of F1 Academy will provide drivers with another route to success in the competitive world of motorsports.

Five teams with three cars each from the current F2 and F3 teams will compete in the F1 Academy, which will have a 15-car grid. There will be 21 races in the inaugural season, with seven three-race events, and will likely include at least one Formula 1 race weekend.

All drivers will compete in the same Tatuus T421 Formula 4 chassis, just like in the W Series. Autotecnica will supply the engines, which will be a 165 BHP turbocharged engine. Formula One’s Global Partner, Pirelli, will supply the tires, as in Formula 3, Formula 2, and Formula 1.

Bruno Michel, the CEO of Formula Motorsport Limited, will be in charge of the series. He has the knowledge and experience of running successful junior categories with a reasonable budget and assisting drivers in their development.

Each car will receive €150,000 (£130,000) in funding from Formula One, which drivers must match to participate in the series. Formula 1 claims the amount is “a fraction of the usual costs to enter comparable series.” The teams will contribute the remaining budget.

It became clear during assessments of the obstacles young female drivers face in entering the F1 pyramid that they lack the same amount of experience as male drivers their age.

The objective of the F1 Academy is to fill this void and provide them with more track time, racing, and testing opportunities. Working with professional teams which are renowned in motorsport for nurturing young drivers will assist them in developing the essential technical, physical, and mental preparations and will also help them develop.

International Men’s Day 2022: A Day to Shed Light on Men’s Well-being

0

INDIA: International Men’s Day is celebrated on November 19 to bring issues to light about the well-being of men and to feature their financial, social, and political accomplishments.

The day encourages men to become positive role models by recognizing the positive value they bring to the world.

Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh observed the day for the first time in 1999. Teelucksingh was a professor of history at the University of West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago.

Uma Challa, a mother of two who advocates for Indian men, has also played a significant role in popularising the day. She is the founder of several organizations. She celebrated International Men’s Day in India for the first time in 2007. She was, however, oblivious about the origin of the date of celebrating International Men’s Day.

Ms. Challa wanted to emphasize the exploitation of some men due to the alleged bias by commemorating the day.

“Helping men and boys” is the theme for International Men’s Day in 2022. The theme aims to promote men’s well-being and recognize their positive contributions to families, communities, and the world.

Men play various crucial roles in their lives, whether they are husbands, brothers, sons, or fathers. These men are honoured on International Men’s Day, which allows them to highlight the challenges they face.

It aims to promote men’s spiritual, emotional, physical, and social well-being. However, the day is not just about honouring men; it also aims to promote gender equality while improving gender relations.

Simple but sweet gestures, such as wishing the men you care about well and expressing gratitude to those who have cared for you, can make the day memorable for the men around us.

Additionally, celebrating men and their accomplishments is a touching act of showing men that their actions are appreciated.

Elon Musk Asks Users’ Opinion on Reinstating Donald Trump’s Account on Twitter

UNITED STATES: Rumours have been circulating about whether Elon Musk-led Twitter will reinstate the Twitter account of Donald Trump since his takeover of the company by tech billionaire Elon Musk.

Elon Musk has launched a poll asking Twitter users to reinstate the account of former President Trump or not.

The poll has received over 5,199,380 votes, with over 55% of respondents voting affirmatively for the reinstation of Donald Trump’s account with 21 hours remaining.

Over 216 thousand people have liked the tweet and retweeted his poll over 113 thousand times thus far.

The 51-year-old Elon Musk posted the Latin phrase “Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” which roughly translates to “the voice of the people is the voice of God,” in another tweet.

Trump was removed from Twitter for good in 2021 for “the risk of further incitement of violence.”

Musk stated in May that he would lift Twitter’s ban on Trump. Twitter banned Donald Trump’s account following the attack on the US Capitol last year.

Musk’s most recent poll contrasts with what he had said earlier in the day. He stated that Twitter had yet to decide on the return of Trump’s account.

Elon Musk did not immediately reinstate Trump on the platform after he took over the microblogging site in late October.

A day after Elon Musk completed the $44 billion deal, he announced the establishment of a content moderation council.

According to the Twitter chief’s announcement, Twitter has reinstated the accounts of US comedian Kathy Griffin and academic Jordan Peterson earlier. In addition, the moderation team reinstated the Twitter account of the satirical website Babylon Bee.

Musk is also working on getting Twitter’s Blue Tick back. He said that the subscription service would be back on November 29 with verification, days after the microblogging platform stopped it temporarily because there were too many fake accounts.

In October 2022, Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, purchased Twitter for $44 billion. He has faced heavy criticism for the radical changes at the social media company.

iGo Core Extreme 3.0: An E-bike That Can Conquer Almost All Terrains

CANADA: It’s easy to see why Montreal-based iGo Electric, founded in 2006, is now one of the leading e-bike manufacturers in Canada. The Core Extreme 3.0, one of its most recent creations, is intended to be as durable and versatile as possible, and a quick look at this bike demonstrates why.

The Core Extreme 3.0, according to iGo Electric, was made specifically to withstand the variety of Canada’s constantly shifting weather. The bike has a powerful electric motor with a nominal power output of 500W and a peak power output of 750W, making it suitable for use on both paved roads and dense forests.

No matter the terrain, this hub-mounted motor can propel you up steep hills with a whopping 80 Nm of torque. Additionally, the motor comes with a thumb-operated throttle and nine levels of assist.

Battery tech comprises a 48V, 576 Wh lithium-particle battery pack incorporated into the downtube for a consistent look. It is also removable, making it simple and convenient to charge off the bike. As long as you ride in optimal conditions, this battery, according to iGo, can provide up to 34 miles of range.

Despite its powertrain, the iGo Core Extreme 3.0’s robust 6061 aluminium frame keeps things simple. The bike has a shallow stand-over height, which makes it easy for riders of all sizes to ride it on any terrain.

iGo has chosen internal cable routing and a battery integrated into the frame despite being built as a more basic machine.

The bike weighs 33.5 kilograms, which is pretty heavy even for electric all-terrain two-wheelers, which is a drawback of its heavy and rugged construction.

The Core Extreme 3.0 rides perfectly on sand, mud, gravel, and snow thanks to its 26×4.5-inch Kenda Juggernaut Sport fat tyres. The tyres dampen the impacts and shocks from uneven road surfaces.

The bike comes to a stop using basic mechanical brakes made by Tektro Aries, and it even has an RST front suspension fork to make riding more comfortable. Two additional features are a simple LCD screen and LED lights at the front and back.

Additionally, the bike comes standard with a kickstand, front and rear fenders, and a cargo rack in the back.

Overall, the iGo Core Extreme 3.0 is a good choice for people who like to go off-road and want a rugged all-arounder. With a price tag of $2,400 (Rs 1.95 lakhs), it is not exactly the cheapest option available, but it comes from one of Canada’s largest and most reputable e-bike manufacturers.

Saints Row Developer Volition Merged with Gearbox Software Studio

0

UNITED STATES: Embracer, a media holding company, announced that Volition, the developer of Saints Row, will be moving from Deep Silver to Gearbox Software to keep its business running.

Volition had previously worked on the highly regarded Red Faction and FreeSpace games in addition to Saints Row; however, its most recent endeavours have not generally been as successful.

Saints Row bagged fame for its unique GTA parody gameplay

Volition has developed a portfolio of games with significant niche appeal over time. Saints Row, a game that had previously served as a complete parody of Grand Theft Auto, was its most notable offering.

Despite its apparent financial success, the new Saints Row reboot, the game faced heavy criticism for its flat plot and uninteresting characters, which were related to the developer’s new home.

Gearbox Software is best known for video games like Borderlands, but over the past few years, the studio has expanded in a more general direction and dabbled in indie publishing with games like Risk of Rain 2.

The Embracer Group’s most recent earnings report states that the new Saints Row disappointed and left fans “partially polarized,” Gearbox will also take control of Volition. The report doesn’t go into much more detail about this, but it does say that Gearbox will “create future success” at Volition by using its experienced management team in the United States.

Notably, the Embracer Group owns both Gearbox Software and Deep Silver. Therefore, instead of being acquired by the new company, Volition is being relocated to continue its work under new management.

The official report also states that the company expects the game will generate a fruitful return on the publisher’s investment, even though it seems almost sure that the game’s lack of critical acclaim is to blame.

The CEO of Embracer has previously made remarks regarding Saints Row. Lars Wingefors said that while he was disappointed that long-time fans of the franchise weren’t happy with the game, the November report would have more information about Volition.

Red Bull Issues Statements Following Verstappen-Perez Team Order Dispute

0

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: Red Bull released a statement saying they have accepted Max Verstappen’s reasons for not following the team’s orders at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix this past weekend, calling him an “open and fair team player.”

In the dying stages of the race, Max Verstappen was allowed to get past teammate Sergio Perez, who was in sixth place. However, the team gave the World Champion instructions to let the Mexican through in the final lap.

Perez was chasing second place in the Drivers’ Championship heading into the season finale in Abu Dhabi. After allowing Verstappen to pass in the first place, Perez was furious when his teammate denied him the position and the extra points which come with it.

However, Max Verstappen stayed adamant regarding his stand on not letting Perez through and finished the race in sixth, ahead of Sergio Perez. When questioned by his race engineer, Verstappen radioed back, saying that he had made his stance clear last summer.

He told the team not to ask him to switch positions again. He said, “I gave my reasons, and I stand by it.” After the race, Perez said that Verstappen’s actions showed “who he really is.” However, he mentioned that the incident was over in social media posts since the fiasco.

In response to the drama surrounding their drivers last weekend, Red Bull has issued a statement in which they acknowledge that they made mistakes in handling the situation. However, they have also condemned the abuse they have received on social media.

Red Bull said they could not agree on a strategy for the situation that arose on the final lap and was clueless about how to tackle it. The team added that Verstappen was requested to give up his position at the end of his lap.

The team pointed out the online abuse by the fans of Sergio Perez, who targeted Sophie Kumpen, mother of Max Verstappen. Kumpen had commented on Instagram where she accused Sergio Perez of infidelity.

Ironically, in the onboard footage of the incident, it is evident that the team asked Verstappen multiple times over the last few laps to let Sergio through.

Max Verstappen’s race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, can be heard telling Verstappen that the team wanted him to let Perez past if Verstappen couldn’t overtake Fernando Alonso.

Vikram-S: India’s First Privately Developed Rocket Launched Today

0

INDIA: The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched the country’s first privately developed rocket, Vikram-S, at 11:30 am today from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, about 115 kilometres from Chennai.

Skyroot Aerospace sets off Vikram-S to a flying start

The four-year-old start-up Skyroot Aerospace launched its Vikram-S rocket for the first time, marking the private sector’s entry into the country’s space industry, which has been dominated for decades by the state-run ISRO.

A private organization’s maiden space vehicle launch will open up new horizons for India’s space program.

Skyroot Aerospace became the first privately owned business to give wings to the Indian space program after it was opened to private companies by the Indian government in 2020.

The initial scheduled launch date of Vikram-S was November 15, 2022. However, owing to inclement weather, the launch was postponed till Friday.

Following its launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Vikram-S will ascend to an altitude of 81 kilometres. The launch vehicle has been given its name in honour of Vikram Sarabhai, the late founder of the Indian Space Program.

The space mission “Prarambh,” carried three payloads belonging to two domestic and foreign clients.

A Skyroot employee stated that the six-meter-tall rocket is one of the first all-composite rockets in the world with solid thrusters printed in three dimensions to ensure the launch vehicle’s spin stability.

During the rocket’s launch, the team demonstrated the telemetry, tracking, inertial measurement, Global Positioning System, an onboard camera, data acquisition, and power systems from the Vikram series.

The Vikram-S suborbital vehicle developed by Skyroot was approved for launch on Wednesday by India’s space regulator, IN-SPACe.

Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) Chairman Pawan Goenka congratulated Skyroot on becoming the first Indian company to receive authorization to launch a rocket.

As it would assist in testing and validating the majority of the technologies in the Vikram series of orbital-class space launch vehicles, including numerous subsystems and technologies tested before and after lift-off, today’s mission is a significant milestone for Skyroot Aerospace.

The payloads will be placed in a low-inclination orbit of about 500 kilometres by the Vikram-S launch vehicle.

NetEase Shares Collapsed after the End of Its Blizzard Partnership

0

CHINA: Blizzard Entertainment announced Thursday that it would end its partnership with NetEase once its agreement with the Chinese company expires next year.

Shares of the Chinese internet behemoth plunged after Blizzard’s announcement

In the announcement, California-based company stated that it could not reach an agreement with NetEase.

The gaming industry giant said the inability to reach an agreement consistent with Blizzard’s ideologies was the reason behind the discontinuation of the partnership.

In a Chinese statement, NetEase stated that it could not agree on essential terms of cooperation. In a second statement, the company stated that the expiry of the licenses would not impact its financial capabilities.

In Hong Kong’s morning trading, NetEase’s shares fell about 11%, a comparatively less sharp decline of the shares that followed the announcement.

William Ding, CEO of NetEase, released a statement saying that the company will continue to serve the players until the last moment. He added that the company would ensure the safety of player data and assets from all of its games.

NetEase secured agreements to be Blizzard’s publishing partner in China after the World of Warcraft developer company ended its agreement with The9 Ltd. in 2008.

The agreement between both gaming giants will expire on Jan. 23. NetEase became China’s second-biggest gaming company after Tencent Holdings.

In the coming days, Blizzard said that it would stop new sales of its games and that players would get more information regarding the future of its games.

The games likely to be suspended include Universe of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Warcraft III: Overwatch, StarCraft, Diablo III, and Heroes of the Storm.

The recently released Diablo Immortal was co-developed by NetEase and Blizzard. Fortunately for the players, the game is covered by a separate long-term agreement, allowing its service to continue in China.

According to NetEase, Blizzard’s games made up a small portion of the company’s total net revenue and net income in 2021 and the first nine months of 2022.

Meanwhile, according to Blizzard Entertainment, upcoming World of Warcraft releases include Hearthstone: Dragonflight, Season 2 of Overwatch 2 and March of the Lich King which will roll out later this year.

Rimac Nevera Claims the Quickest EV Tag; Hits Top Speed of 412 km/h

GERMANY: The Rimac Nevera is now the world’s fastest electric production car, with a top speed of 412 km/h (258 mph).

The Automotive Testing Papenburg track in Germany served as the location for the top-speed run, confirmed by GPS data from the car.

The Nevera had run the quarter-mile in a record-breaking 8.582 seconds last year before setting this new top speed record.

The team used the ATP track due to its two four-kilometre-long straights. Miro Zrnčević, Rimac’s chief test and development driver was driving the Nevera.

The Nevera, for the record run, was set to its top speed mode. This mode generates an aerodynamic profile that strikes a dynamic balance between downforce and drag for improved high-speed stability.

The Nevera used the Michelin Cup 2R tires for the record-breaking attempt. The tires are road legal.

To reach V-MAX on the Racelogic V-Box during the record run, Miro wanted to get the perfect entry onto the straight from the banking. As the Nevera levelled out of the banking, it was already doing a speed of around 250kmph (155mph).

The four electric motors of the Nevera, designed in-house by Rimac, generate 1,914 horsepower. The 0-100 kph dash takes just 1.85 seconds.

The Rimac Nevera aims to break lap records on various racetracks worldwide after becoming the world’s fastest production EV car and fastest accelerating production car.

Rimac Automobili is a Croatian automobile company. It developed and produced the all-electric sports car Rimac Nevera. In August 2021, Rimac released the initial production prototype car.

The production of Rimac Nevera is limited to 150 units. Rimac intends to deliver the Nevera to customers in the middle of 2022 after the homologation crash tests finish successfully.

Australia Defeats England by 6 Wickets in 1st Match of the ODI Series

AUSTRALIA: Dawid Malan hit a fighting century to resurrect England’s innings, which at one stage was struggling at 118/5. His effort was in vain as the Australian batting performed exceptionally to outplay the inexperienced English bowling attack.

Australian batsmen never looked in trouble against English bowler

The newly crowned 2022 T20 World Cup champions, England, staged an incredible comeback, reviving their innings with flair. England started poorly, losing three wickets during the first powerplay as the Australian bowlers made the ball move in both directions.

Mitchell Starc (45/1) cleaned up Jason Roy (6 off 11 balls) with a beautiful inswinger after Pat Cummins (62/3) got Phil Salt (14 off 15 balls) caught at slips. Soon after, James Vince (5 off 6 balls) edged one to the wicketkeeper behind the stumps.

Sam Billings (17 off 22 balls) appeared to be in good touch, but Marcus Stoinis (23/1) dismissed him in his first over with a ball that bounced back and hit his middle stump.

While trying to hit Adam Zampa (55/3), Jos Buttler (29 off 34) holed out to long-off after a positive start. The centurion, Dawid Malan (134 off 128 balls), stood tall for England, who were reeling at 118/5 with five of their top six back in the hut.

He formed valuable partnerships With Liam Dawson (11 off 17 balls), Chris Jordan (14 off 18 balls), and David Willey (34 off 40 balls) as he perfectly timed his innings. The southpaw took very calculated risks and upped the ante gradually after his fifty to get to a memorable century.

Malan departed for 134, run out with less than five overs remaining. England finished with 287/9 thanks to a knock from Malan and essential contributions from Dawson, Jordan, and Willey.

In reply, Australia was off to a blazing start. It became apparent immediately that the target set by England was not enough. Australia’s opening stand demonstrated the English bowling attack’s lack of experience, which added 147 runs.

The opening duo of Travis Head (69 off 57 balls) and David Warner (86 off 84 balls) toyed with the English bowling attack in the powerplay overs. Head took on the opener role after Aaron Finch’s retirement. He batted well for his half-century.

Steve Smith (80* off 78 balls), who had visibly changed batting stance, came in to bat after Head’s wicket. Smith looked upbeat during his stay at the crease. He and Warner threatened to end the game much sooner, but a short ball dismissed Warner from David Willey (51/2).

Smith held the fort from one end, despite the left-arm seamer dismissing Marnus Labuschagne (4 off 6 balls) cheaply. Smith hit a boundary and six off successive balls in the 47th over to seal the match in his team’s favour.

The former Australian captain remained not out on 80, with Cameron Green (20 off 28 balls), whose cameo contributed to the 6-wicket victory with three overs remaining.
