India To Miss ISSF World Cup In South Korea Due To Quarantine Protocols

2

INDIA: India will not participate in the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup which will be held in Changwon, South Korea. The decision was made because of South Korea’s mandatory two-week quarantine rules which will meddle with the shooters’ training.

“Our shooters are not going to be participating in the ISSF World Cup in Korea as there is a 14-day forced quarantine. That means they will not be able to train for that period,” said a top official of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).

The competition is scheduled for eleven days from April 16 to April 27. ISSF was earmarked as part of the program to help the Indian shooting contingent hone its skills for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. With South Korea and Japan sharing a similar time zone, the event was being considered important to facilitate acclimatization.

Furthermore, the concerned authorities of Korea said that the players will not be exempted from the mandatory quarantine.

Burga became an inspiration and a hope for the women in Peru. Her boundary-pushing works focused on authorship, forms of labor, and the status of women in Peru. The traditional garments wore by the women in the late 60s found a way into her art, explaining stereotypes and norms that were different at that time. Burga was an acclaimed conceptual artist internationally. Her exemplary art still remains a great depiction of feminism and excellence.

Besides, her recent exhibition was held in New York. It exhibited drawings by her that she had completed in the course of thirty years. Titled ‘Insomnia Drawings’, she completed the art while she was suffering from sleeplessness.

Over the past five decades, Burga’s art has taken a number of forms, from fancifully colored sculptures to drawings based on children’s doodles. Yet it has only been recently that this work has come to light internationally. There is a three-decade lacuna in Burga’s CV, from 1981 to 2010, in which she barely showed her art publicly.

I yearned for books, but luck wasn’t in my favor. Eventually, my parents mortgaged whatever little jewelry my mother had to ensure that I paid my exam fees in order to earn a degree. My mother has suffered a lot to provide for me. At 14, I ran away from home. I somehow managed to complete my studies in the day, became a dishwasher in the evening, and worked at a call center at night. I’ve walked hours to reach places so I could save the rickshaw fare.” She has shared her story through The Miss India organization’s Instagram account.
