Although seafarers were getting the benefit of the provident fund under the Seamen’s Provident Fund Act 1966, they were not getting Gratuity and Pension benefits since different norms were followed as per agreement between NUSI and ship owners. Now all seafarers will get uniform benefits under the Seamen’s Provident Fund Act 1966.
