INDIA: Happy birthday, Dhanush! The high-octane war drama Captain Miller, which had earlier roped the audience in with the poster release, finally unveiled the teaser today on the occasion of Dhanush’s 40th birthday. The National award-winning actor is playing the lead hero in the historical action-adventure film directed by Arun Matheswaran. The movie is set to release on December 15, 2023.
The teaser opens in a war zone with Dhanush seen in a never-like-before avatar. The Raanjhanaa hero has a long beard and hair tied to a man bun. The entire rugged look is completed with a black thread-like choker around his neck. Dhanush is always seen accompanied by rifles and guns in the teaser.
The most spine-chilling action scene in the 1.33-minute teaser is the killing of a person, which Dhanush mastered with an axe. Surprisingly, there is a hint of the Tamil actor’s dual role in the film; he will be seen as a father and a son, like Shamshera.
There are many more similarities with the movie Shamshera, as the movie is also set in the British era, where there is a search for a wanted dacoit, Captain Miller, aka Eesa, aka Analeesan. A pamphlet lists a reward for the person who finds Captain Miller.
G. V. Prakash’s outstanding background score, Siddhartha Nuni’s stunning visuals, and T. Ramalingam’s production design made it a bomb combination. Captain Miller stars Priyanka Arul Mohan as the female lead opposite Dhanush. Besides this, Mark Bennington, Nassar, and Shiva Rajkumar are some prominent characters in the movie.
In a recent interview, the director also revealed that the first poster features one of the three looks that Dhanush would don in the movie. The remaining ones will be made available later on during additional promotions.
Over 85% of the movie has already been shot, and the team even finished several scenes with Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar. The pre-independence era of the 1930s serves as the setting for the movie, according to the filmmaker.
Now, the expectations for the film are even higher after the teaser’s release.
