Thirteen COVID-19 patients perished in a fire that broke out in the intensive care unit (ICU)
of the Vijay Vallabh Hospital, located at Bolinj in Virar West, about 56 km from Mumbai, in the early hours of Friday.
A case of culpable homicide has been filed in the oxygen leakage incident in the hospital in Nashik on Wednesday, even as the death toll rose to 24 after two more COVID-19 patients succumbed.
At least 22 COVID-19 patients died due to the asphyxiation, following an interruption in the supply of oxygen, because of the massive leakage from an oxygen storage plant, at the Nashik Municipal Corporation’s Dr. Zakir Hussain hospital located at Kathada, in Nashik in North Maharashtra, on Wednesday afternoon.
