Congress Appoints TS Singh Deo as Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Ahead of State Elections

INDIA. New Delhi: In a significant development, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed TS Singh Deo as the Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. The announcement was made during a meeting held at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in New Delhi. 

The grand meeting witnessed the presence of former Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary KC Venugopal, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and Party State In-Charge Kumari Selja.

A statement signed by AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal stated, “Honorable Congress President has approved the proposal for the appointment of Shri T.S. Singh Deo as the Deputy Chief Minister in the Chhattisgarh Government.” 

Venugopal further expressed confidence in Singh Deo, describing him as a loyal Congress leader and an efficient administrator. He emphasized that the state of Chhattisgarh would greatly benefit from Singh Deo’s services as the Deputy Chief Minister.

Venugopal concluded by expressing confidence in the people of Chhattisgarh, stating that they would re-elect the Congress party with a resounding majority under the leadership of Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.

This recent appointment comes months ahead of the assembly elections in the state. The party demonstrates its faith in the newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister, TS Singh Deo, who has expressed his commitment to carrying forward the legacy of the grand old party in an improved manner.

During a media interaction, Deo confirmed the news, stating, “The Congress party has granted me the opportunity to work, and the leadership has entrusted me with responsibilities. We must unite everyone and make every effort, even within a limited timeframe, to enhance the Congress party’s prospects and improve the welfare of Chhattisgarh and its citizens.”

Reacting to Deo’s selection as the new Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, BJP spokesperson Sachidanand Upasne expressed his opinion, stating, “Singh Deo’s elevation demonstrates the frustration of the Congress. It is demeaning to see him being given the position for just three months. The people of the state are aware that this move will have no impact on the upcoming elections.”
