However, the jaw-dropping trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has sparked numerous speculations and theories, and given that Sam Raimi is the director, such hype is to be expected.

Among all of this, there is one rumor circulating that Tom Cruise will play Iron Man. This rumor, however, is based on a leaked photo of Tom Cruise, which was shared on Twitter by The Moth Culture.
Is the leaked photo real?
The leaked image is in low-resolution and mostly blurry, and it shows Tom Cruise in some sort of motion capture suit. His face is barely visible, but based on appearances, he has a similar beard and mustache style to Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark.
However, the leaked photo has different hues and lights in the face than the rest of the motion capture suit. Someone appears to have photoshopped Tom Cruise’s face in the motion capture suit. Since there has been no affirmation from the film creators regarding the leak, it is impossible to say definitively whether it is photo-shopped or not.
Fans response to Tom Cruise as Iron Man
The leak has sparked outrage among fans, with some supporting it and others opposing it. One user commented on The Moth Culture’s Twitter post, saying, “It’s fake.” Many people believe that “no one can replace Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.” However, some speculate that it could be a different version of Tony Stark from an alternate timeline.
Which Iron Man version will Tom Cruise play?
As word of the leak spread, several theories began to surface on Reddit. According to the report, the actor might play Superior Iron Man. It’s a nefarious and brutalized version of Iron Man with shadier morals. He also has this super Symbiotic suit, which is among the most powerful Iron Man armor.
It isn’t the first time Tom Cruise has been linked to Iron Man. He was offered the role of Iron Man while the first film was being made. However, he declined, explaining that “as it was lining up, it just didn’t feel like it was going to work”. Later, Robert Downey Jr. was cast in the part, and the rest is history.
