ED Grills Vijay Deverakonda for 12 Hours over Liger Funding

As per the reports, the movie got illegal funding from a foreign source

INDIA: One of the most loved actors in Tollywood, Vijay Deverakonda, enjoys a worldwide fan base thanks to his excellent acting skills and alluring look. Due to the recent release of his movie Liger, he recently found himself in a controversy.

As per the reports, the movie got illegal funding from a foreign source, which is considered a violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). Thus, the actor was questioned by ED for over 12 hours.

Previously, director Puri Jagannadh and producer Charmee Kaur were grilled by the probe agency over the illegitimate funding of the movie.

The lead of the movie Vijay Deverakonda broke the silence over all the allegations and said, “With great popularity comes challenges, and there’s nothing you can do about it. But I see this as an experience. I did my duty when they called. I went and answered their questions.”

Adding more to his statement, he said, “The ED officials wanted to know the name of the company or individuals who funded the movie. They strongly believe that the money used to fund the movie came from abroad. They’re investigating to check if any of this funding violated FEMA.”

As per the rumors, the movie Liger was made with black money funding from some renowned politicians. Liger was reportedly produced with a huge budget of ₹100 crores. The film also stars American boxing legend Mike Tyson, thus becoming a high-budget movie.

But, unfortunately, it didn’t fare well at the box office.
