INDIA: Every year on September 15, Indian engineers commemorate Engineer’s Day. It is a day to honor and celebrate the engineers who make a positive impact in the world. The day marks the birth anniversary of Indian civil engineer, Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Vishweshvaraya (MV). Sir MV was awarded the Bharat Ratna for his contributions in the field of engineering.
Sir MV worked as one of the chief engineers for the flood protection system for Hyderabad as well as the chief engineer of the Krishna Raja Sagar dam in the north-western suburb of Mysuru city.
While other countries celebrate ‘World Engineering Day for a Sustainable World’ on March 4, it is observed on September 15 in India as a tribute to Sir MV.
Celebrating the 55th National Engineering Day today, Indian leaders took to social media and flooded it with several motivational quotes.
Talking about the importance of engineers, PM Narendra Modi tweeted, “Greetings to all engineers on #EngineersDay. Our nation is blessed to have a skilled and talented pool of engineers who are contributing to nation building. Our Government is working to enhance the infrastructure for studying engineering, including building more engineering colleges.”
Mahindra Group Chairman and visionary leader Anand Mahindra tweeted, “Absolutely surreal. Like a peek into the habitat of more heavenly creatures. Thank you for sharing this. I bow low to the intrepid engineers who designed and constructed this marvel. Jai Hind.”
Tech giant Google has also joined the country’s celebration of acknowledging the work of engineers for the nation’s development.
Transcontinental Times COO Niloy Chattaraj tweeted a picture on the eve of Engineer’s Day.
Transcontinental Times CEO Roshan Bhondekar tweeted, “Engineering is all about Inventing and Investigating but not all about Ignoring. Warm greetings to all #Engineers.”
