Envision Saint John Names Andrew Beckett as New CEO

Experienced Leader to Assume Permanent Role in July, Bringing Strategic Vision and Financial Expertise

CANADA: The Board of Directors of Envision Saint John recently announced that Andrew Beckett has been named Chief Executive Officer. Beckett has served as the agency’s interim CEO since September 2023 and will assume his new role in July.

“We are pleased to appoint Andrew as our next CEO as he brings a wealth of experience and expertise that is already proving invaluable in helping us maintain our momentum, and propel necessary economic growth and opportunity forward,” said Al Walker, chair of Envision Saint John’s Board of Directors. “Andrew has a strong background in organizational leadership, strategic planning, financial management and business administration, all of which are proving immensely beneficial in helping us take action and make progress on a number of transformational goals for the Saint John Region.”

Beckett is a Chartered Professional Accountant, and his experience spans several decades, including 13 years at the City of Saint John. While there, he served as Commissioner of Finance, helping shape the city’s financial policies and practices, and as Deputy City Manager, providing leadership in strategic planning and financial management. He also recently worked as Vice President – Finance and Administration at St. Francis Xavier University.

“I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to continue working with such a strong, talented and dedicated team,” said Beckett. “It is an absolute pleasure to play a leadership role with this influential organization that is committed to making the Saint John Region an even better place to live, work, invest in and visit.”

Beckett holds a Master of Arts in Human Systems Intervention from Concordia University, a Certificate in Municipal Administration, a Certificate in Public Participation, and a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University. An active volunteer, Beckett currently sits on the board of directors for the Atlantica Centre for Energy and the Saint John Theatre Company with past appointments including the Saint John Free Public Library, Marathon by the Sea, and East Coast Music Awards.

Envision Saint John: Driving Strategic, Data-Driven Growth

Envision Saint John, The Regional Growth Agency, is dedicated to connecting people and driving strategic, data-driven growth to ensure continuous regional progress. Representing the City of Saint John, Quispamsis, Rothesay, Grand Bay-Westfield, Hampton, Fundy-St. Martins, and Fundy Rural District, the agency focuses on attracting residents, visitors, businesses, and investments to the Saint John Region.

Beckett succeeds inaugural CEO Paulette Hicks who has left the role due to medical reasons. The board extends its thanks to Ms. Hicks for her integral role in establishing Envision Saint John and for being a constant cheerleader for the Saint John Region.
