SPAIN: The match between Hornchurch (HOR) and Beveren (BEV) in the ECL (European Cricket League) Championship Week, at the Cartama Oval in Spain, was an absolute nail-biter as HOR beat BEV in a last-ball thriller.

HOR vs BEV

BEV won the toss and chose to field first, and at first, it looked like it turned out to be a wise decision as they restricted HOR to just 41 runs in 5 overs.

HOR was in desperate need of acceleration, and they got it from George Hankins and Jalpesh Vijay, who started scoring runs at a good pace.

They amassed 69 runs in the last 3 overs, which helped HOR post a mammoth total of 139 runs. George played a scintillating knock of 68* off 28 deliveries with 9 sixes, while Jalpesh scored 38* off just 14 deliveries with 4 sixes.

In response, BEV got off to a good start, scoring 31 runs in the first two overs. But they soon found themselves struggling at 40-5, thanks to a brilliant bowling performance by Gavin Griffiths, who took three wickets in a single over.

However, Abdul Rashid and Mohammad Noman had different plans as they fought back tremendously. Noman played a blazing knock of 43 off just 17 balls, while Rashid scored 35 off 18 balls before getting out.

The ECL T-10 match was tied, and it went to a Golden Ball, which is a concept in which the batting team gets an extra ball to score two runs, or else the fielding team wins.

The tension was high, as the fate of the match rested on this one ball. But in the end, HOR managed to restrict BEV from scoring, and they won the match.

It was an absolutely thrilling match that had everything—a slow start, brilliant acceleration, wickets falling in a heap, a fantastic fightback, and a Golden Ball finish.

George Hankins and Jalpesh Vijay’s partnership was the backbone of HOR’s innings, while Gavin Griffiths’ spell turned the match in their favor.

Mohammad Noman and Abdul Rashid played brilliantly for BEV, but it was not enough to take them over the line. Overall, it was a memorable match that will be remembered by cricket fans for a long time.
