INDIA: India dominated Day 2 of India vs Australia Test, finishing with a massive total of 321/7 and a healthy lead of 144 runs.

India vs Australia day 2

India gained the leading position with the help of a spectacular century from the captain, Rohit Sharma (120), and from two similar all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja (66*) and Axar Patel (52*), both of whom scored half-centuries to further push Australia on the back foot.

Todd Murphy, the debutant from Australia, showed a good bowling performance and took a five-wicket haul (5/82), whereas skipper Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon both managed to take one wicket each.

It is quite clear now that as the game is progressing, the Men in Blue are gripping the game prominently. At the start of the day, Sharma looked promising, and Ravichandran Ashwin also frustrated Australia with his 23 runs before getting LBW to Murphy.

Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara both failed to make an impact and got out on a loose delivery from Murphy. Sharma then made sure that runs should keep coming from one end, led from the front as a captain, and scored a fantastic knock of 120.

After debutants Suryakumar Yadav and Srikar Bharat both got out, Jadeja and Axar both played valuable innings and added 81 runs together for the 8th wicket.

Just before the last but one delivery of the day, Steve Smith dropped a catch of Jadeja at the slip on Lyon’s delivery. The Australians were counting on Lyon, their most reliable spinner, who has not been particularly impressive, taking only one wicket.
