Inter Services Lawn Tennis Championship Concludes at MC, IAF, Nagpur

India. Mumbai: Naib Subedar Rishabh Aggarwal of the Indian Army won in the individual event. In contrast, the Indian Army team won the team event at the 5-day Inter Services Lawn Tennis Championship 2022. The event concluded at Headquarters Maintenance Command of IAF at Vayusena Nagar, Nagpur on Friday.

The final was played between Army Red and Army Blue in the team events and between Naib Subedar Rishabh Aggarwal of the Indian Army and Petty Officer LOG (F&A) Suraj R Prabodh of the Indian Navy in an individual event.

During the closing ceremony of the Championship on December 16, Friday, Air Marshal CR Mohan, Senior Maintenance Staff Officer, distributed the prizes to the winners and appreciated all the participants, officials of the Services Sports Control Board & Maintenance Command. Senior officials from the Indian Air Force were present.

Air Marshal CR Mohan expressed his happiness for closely contested games, which were in the true spirit of sportsmanship and enthralled the closely packed audience.

The 5-day Inter Services Lawn Tennis Championship 2022 was inaugurated on 12 December by Air Marshal Vibhas Pande, Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Maintenance Command. The event was conducted under the aegis of the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB).

Four teams of 24 players from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force, participated in the championship. They contested both in the team and individual events.

Based on their performance and their AITA (All India Tennis Association) ranking, players can represent services at the national level.

“The Armed Forces have always stressed on physical fitness of their personnel through various organised games and sports. Besides selecting potential players from the grassroots and nurturing their talents, one of the aims of the Championship is to promote Lawn Tennis amongst the armed forces personnel,” an official statement read.
