INDIA: Delhi’s former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s case investigation into the alleged excise police finally came to an end. On Thursday, the CBI opposed Sisodia’s bail request in the Delhi High Court, claiming that witnesses had categorically attested to his involvement in the manipulation of the alcohol policy.

The former AAP leader is currently logged into Tihar jail following an arrest by CBI related to an alleged excise scam and money laundering. In the recent past, the CBI had filed its chargesheet naming Manish Sisodia as an accused.

Sisodia’s lawyer Advocate Rishikesh however, condemned the investigation doubting his bail, saying even 60 days after his arrest makes him eligible for default or statutory bail. He said CBI should therefore provide a copy of the chargesheet to Manish Sisodia.

Thus, a copy of the charge sheet was essential to find out if the investigation had happened or it’s been concluded or is still in process on behalf of the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision.

As per reports, Manish Sisodia’s bail plea in the CBI case is still awaited, kept pending before the Delhi HC. Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju, in his bold statement, told the court that Sisodia is “capable of pressuring and manipulating people.”

They have the ability to put others under pressure. If they can persuade people to take kickbacks, they can certainly persuade witnesses to become hostile,” ASG added.

The CBI detained the former Delhi deputy CM on February 26 in relation to the alleged irregularities and corruption in the creation and implementation of the policy, and he is held in the Tihar Jail.

The agency stated in its chargesheet submitted to a special CBI court in New Delhi that the investigation is ongoing to look into a bigger conspiracy and the role of additional accused in the case.
