INDIA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to attend a rally today at Mana, the last Indian village on the India-China border.
As per expert advice, amidst the ongoing conflicts between the two countries, PM Modi’s speech would turn out to be beneficial for Sino-Indian ties.
Political analyst Udit Ghildiyal, discussing the topic, said, “Keeping in mind the present scenario between India and China, the PM’s address near the China border is expected to be a crucial one.”
Furthermore, she added, “The road widening projects near the border will help locals as well as the defence forces.”
Meanwhile, two major road projects, Mana to Mana Pass (NH-07) and Joshimath to Malari (NH-107B), were recently completed.
PM Modi will soon wave the green signal for connectivity projects worth over Rs 3,400 crore, which includes the Gaurikund-Kedarnath ropeway and Govindghat-Hemkund Sahib ropeway project.
The border village needs population, connectivity, and infrastructure, so the government’s existing Border Area Development Programme (BADP) will help in developing the area.
In the early past, FM Nirmala Sitaraman initiated the announced Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP), which primarily focuses on infrastructure and redevelopment of the communities that reside in northern areas, improving education, health, agriculture, drinking water, sanitation and increasing the level of sports and overall development.
The BJP is working to develop areas near the border, moreover, to provide aid to the Bhotiya tribe, who feel the need to migrate to other areas during the extreme winter.
Previously, the main issue of lack of employment was raised in front of the government.
Pitamphar Molpha, the head of the village, assured the normal residents by saying, “Amongst Mana’s many problems, the first one is tough weather conditions that force locals to shift to Joshimath and other locations during winter. We are hopeful that the PM announces something big for Mana and the adjoining areas.”
