INDIA: Neha Kakkar is famous for recreating songs and one amongst them is the signature song of famous singer Falguni Pathak. Kakkar made a remake of ‘Maine Payal Hai Chhankai’, a song from 1999.
The song held a separate fan base back then in the 90s but Neha’s recreation disappointed many fans which resulted in social media backlash.
Recently, Pathak opened up about her thoughts on this, to which the veteran singer expressed, “I feel overwhelmed and touched on receiving so much love from all over for the song, so I had to share their feelings.”
Hence, when she was asked about the legal action Pathak instantly said, “I wish I could but the rights are not with me.”
Falguni Pathak is not happy with Neh’s rendition of her iconic song Maine Payal Hai Chhankai. Recently, several fans criticized Neha for “ruining” the original. Falguni expressed her disapproval of Nehona’s version titled O Sajna and re-shared some of the fan posts on Instagram Stories.
Now Falguni has opened up about the Neha Kakkar song in an interview. “I feel overwhelmed and touched that I’ve been getting so much love for the song from all sides, so I had to share my feelings,” the singer said. When asked if she plans to take legal action against the song, she replied: “I wish I could, but I don’t have the rights.”
The original creator of the song also mentioned that many songs have been recreated in the past, which did well and further said, “Remixes toh bahut pehele se ban rahe hai. Aaj bhi ban rahe hai… aur kuch aache bhi hai…aisa nahi hai. Yeh thoda iska dhyaan rakhna zaroori hai.”
The recreated Neha’s song O Sajna, premiered on YouTube on September 19. It includes the hook line and tone of the original with some extended lyrics which according to Netizens, made no sense.
The original song featured actors like Vivan Bhatena and Nikhila Palat whereas the recent one has Neha Kakkar herself alongside Priyank Sharma and Dhanashree Verma.
