INDIA: The AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi requisitioned peace in Hyderabad before the saffron party MLA T Raja Singh’s re-confinement. The MLA was apprehended from his residence on Thursday and is suspended from the party.
Massive violence and protests took place immediately after the Hyderabad court granted Singh bail in the first place. The bail is allowed to Singh post lawsuit proved that police did not issue a notice under CrPC 41(A) to the accused before the arrest.
The Muslim party leader Asaduddin Owaisi, in a video, requested people not to make gatherings and hold protests on Friday because it’s their holy ‘Jumma’ day. He said, “Even if there is violence one day, the poor suffer a big loss. Our city is defamed.” The police arrested some protesters for holding an objection against Singh for his controversial remarks at their Prophet, but Owaisi intervened and freed the dissidents.
Owaisi said, “We must ensure that the Friday prayers pass peacefully. I want to appeal to the elders, mothers and sisters that protect your children. I want to appeal that you don’t chant any such slogan after Friday prayers or do something that leads to an unacceptable incident that will cause trouble to others. Remember, ours was a peaceful struggle, and therefore, we defeated BJP, Sangh Parivar and its local forces.”
Adding more to it, he said, “I want to tell the residents of Hyderabad and Telangana that BJP had declared in the past that it would conduct a surgical strike on Hyderabad. They hate the brotherhood of Hyderabad. That’s why I request all of you remain peaceful.”
Raja Singh, the accused, was booked by police two days ago for making disparaging comments against Prophet Mohammad, released a video on Thursday. He said he did not intend to target any religion and added, “I may be arrested, externed, or they may use the Preventive Detention Act against me.”
