INDIA: On April 24, cricket fans worldwide celebrate the 50th birthday of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, fondly known as the “God of Cricket”. 

The master blaster, who retired from the game in 2013, is still regarded as one of the greatest batters to ever play the sport. As fans pour out their heartfelt wishes on social media, let us take a moment to reflect on the illustrious career of the cricketing legend.

Born in Mumbai in 1973, Tendulkar showed early signs of his talent when he started playing cricket at the age of 11.

His prodigious talent soon caught the attention of the cricketing fraternity, and at the age of 16, he made his debut for the Indian cricket team. The rest, as they say, is history.

Tendulkar’s illustrious career spanned over two decades, during which he amassed 34,357 runs in international cricket.

He holds several records, including the most runs and centuries in Test and ODI cricket.

Tendulkar was the first player in the sport’s history to score a double century in ODI cricket and also held the record for most runs scored by a batter in a single World Cup edition.

But Tendulkar’s contribution to Indian cricket goes beyond just numbers. His work ethic, passion, and commitment to the game inspired a generation of cricketers. 

Tendulkar was a great player and a role model for millions of fans worldwide.

Tendulkar has been inactive in cricket since his retirement in 2013. He continues to inspire and mentor young cricketers.

He added that the cricketers have contributed to the growth and popularity of the game and that he is happy to have done his bit.
