INDIA: Indian Cricketer Shubman Gill, who is currently a popular household name for his phenomenal run at the IPL this year, surprised his fans with a special announcement. Recently, the cricketer opened up about his favourite Spider-Man.
Shubman Gill as Spider-Man India
In a media interaction, Gill revealed that Tobey Maguire is his favourite Spider-Man. He continued by saying that although he had many recollections of these films, he could still clearly recall his first viewing of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.
“There was this scene where Spider-man spins a web around Green Goblin, pulls him closer and then kicks him,” he added.
He stated that’s something he’s done a lot with his buddies, not kicking them but recreating the scene. He went on to say that he used to climb through gaps in the door, and his mother would scold him because she was afraid he might fall.
Gill even talked about the superpower he wanted to have as Spider-Man. He said, “I would want to swing across the buildings.”
For the unknown, Gill is voicing the character of Pavitr Prabhakar in the upcoming animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Pavitr is an Indian version of Spider-Man of Earth-50101, living in a Mumbai and Manhattan-fused fictional city Mumbattan.
Sony Pictures Entertainment India released Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse today (June 1, 2023). The animated feature debuted in a pan-India format. The film is released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi and Bengali.
As per analysis, the opening of the film seems to be ranging around Rs 4.5 – 5 crores nett. If the prediction goes right, then it will be the biggest opening for an animated film in India, beating the current best, Incredibles 2.
