INDIA: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse arrived with a bang on June 1 in India, a day before its US release. Following the two-day box office swing of Miles Morales on Indian big screens, the official business numbers are out.
Indian box office run of Spider-Verse 2
Spider-Verse 2 did a business of over Rs 4.20 crore on Day 1, and after a gripping firm hold on Day 2, it collected Rs 4 crores, as per box office reports. This makes the movie collection Rs 8.20 crores at the Indian box office in just two days.
Miles Morales’ mulitversal featurette clashed with Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal’s Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. Thus, both movies are in a tough fight in the box office run. The Vicky starrer ZHZB earned Rs 5.49 crore on its opening day, which is fair enough. However the weekend business of both films will decide their fate on the box office.
As per reports and box office analysts, it is expected that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will attain good commercial success. The tickets for the animated sequel were pre-booked, and 40,000 tickets were sold.
Spider-Verse 2 has been released in India in ten languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi and Bengali. The film also features Pavitr Prabhakar, an Indian Spider-Man for the first time. The Hindi and Punjabi versions of the animated film got the voiceover from cricketer Shubman Gill who voiced Pavitr Prabhakar.
Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson added their directorial vision to Spider-Verse 2. The film’s voice cast includes Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, and Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara.
The feature serves as a sequel to the 2018 Oscar-winning film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The first instalment showcased a Spider-Man story set in an alternate universe, Earth-1610, where Miles Morales becomes the Web-Slinger after Peter Parker dies in a fight with Kingpin.
