INDIA: Write India Publishers has announced that The Fire of Sindoor: India’s Strike Against Terror will be released on June 27, 2025. The nonfiction work, authored by Roshan Bhondekar and Niloy Chattaraj, examines India’s May 7, 2025, military strikes—referred to as Operation Sindoor—on alleged terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), following the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people.

According to Indian authorities, the Pahalgam incident was carried out by militant groups including Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. In response, Operation Sindoor targeted nine sites, including locations in Bahawalpur and Muridke, in a series of coordinated air and missile strikes. The operation’s name references “sindoor,” a traditional symbol of justice in Indian culture.

The book draws on a mix of sources—ranging from military and intelligence personnel to residents in affected areas—to offer a detailed narrative of the events and their wider implications. It explores not only the military strategy and weaponry employed, such as SCALP and BrahMos missiles, but also the complex diplomatic repercussions that followed.

The authors present multiple perspectives, including India’s stated rationale, Pakistan’s denials and counter-accusations, and international reactions that included both cautious support and calls for de-escalation. The narrative situates the strikes within the historical trajectory of India-Pakistan relations, highlighting long-standing tensions and unresolved disputes.

Ahmedabad-based Write India Publishers announced the book’s release date on their official Twitter (X) account. The book combines strategic analysis with personal accounts to examine the events related to Operation Sindoor.

Bhondekar, a filmmaker and author, contributes a narrative lens, while Chattaraj, an expert in electronic warfare, brings technical depth. The authors have stated that all royalties will be donated to Indian NGOs supporting orphaned children.

The Fire of Sindoor adds to the growing body of literature on South Asian security issues, focusing on a recent, high-profile episode that continues to influence diplomatic and military discourse. As tensions between India and Pakistan persist, the book provides context for ongoing debates on cross-border militancy, state responses, and the ethical boundaries of preemptive action.
