INDIA: Coconut water is no less than holy water. It is one of the best drinks to fight the summer heat, besides it helps maintain the electrolyte balance in the body and is low in calories as it has no added sugar, it is highly recommended for weight watchers.

Rich in natural enzymes and minerals like potassium, it is a super healthy drink. The center of the young, green coconut, i.e. the juice, contains 94% water and very little fat.
Too many free radicals in your body can increase oxidative stress levels, which can damage your cells, increasing the risk of diseases. Coconut water contains antioxidants that can modify free radicals so that they are no longer harmful, hence can improve oxidative stress.
In research conducted on rats, it was found that coconut water consumption decreased the blood pressure, triglyceride, and insulin levels in rats treated with it.
Works against diabetes
Studies prove that coconut water can lower blood sugar levels, providing coconut water to rats with diabetes improved their blood sugar levels. Being a good source of magnesium, can increase insulin sensitivity and reduce blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes and prediabetics.
However, more studies are needed to confirm the findings.
Helps prevent kidney stones
Drinking enough fluids help prevent kidney stones, and water is the most essential fluid, but studies suggest that coconut water can also do the needful.
In another experiment performed on rats who had kidney stones, the water helped prevent crystals from sticking to the kidneys and other parts of the urinary tract, thus reducing the number of crystals formed in the urine.
More studies are needed in this area to clear the effect of “miracle water” on kidney stones.

Drinking coconut water can keep your heart healthy.
In a study, rats who consumed coconut water had reductions in blood cholesterol and triglycerides. They also experienced a significant decrease in liver fat.
However, for humans to achieve the same benefits, a lot of coconut water needs to be consumed.
The right time to consume coconut water
Although coconut water can be consumed at any time of the day or even at night, drinking it early in the morning is a good choice as it has lauric acid, which boosts immunity and helps in kick-starting your metabolism and promoting weight loss.
Pregnant women are recommended to have coconut water to fight dehydration and constipation. It also helps in relieving morning sickness, heartburn, which are common during pregnancy.
Coconut water is also a good pre and post-workout drink to keep yourself hydrated, and before bed, or for curing a hangover.
