UNITED STATES: On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden landed in Northern Ireland to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, which had done away with all the dissident violence in the area.

In the Northern Irish capital of Belfast, UK PM Rishi Sunak welcomed Biden, whose main intent for this trip was “to keep the peace,” as stated by him before boarding Air Force One. His other motive was to put an end to the political tension that resulted from hostility between the UK parties and the trading rules of post-Brexit.

People in masked attire hurled petrol bombs at police vehicles on Monday amid an illegal march by sectarian republicans in Londonderry, augmenting the need for combat security during Biden’s visit. John Kirby, a National Security Council spokesman, mentioned to the reporters, “We’d like to see the national assembly (in Belfast) returned, clearly.” in light of the suspension of the Stormont legislature.

“The message is twofold. It’s congratulations on 25 years of the Good Friday Agreement and to talk about the importance of trying to work on trade and economic policies that benefit all communities as well as the United States,” he added.

Biden would deliver a speech at the Ulster University in Belfast on Wednesday to concentrate on the economic goals of inside investment in the case of the continuation of peace. This trip will also “celebrate the deep, historic ties” between the UK and the US.

Felicitating Monday’s anniversary, Suanak states, “While it is time to reflect on the solid progress we have made together, we must also recommit to redoubling our efforts on the promise made in 1998 and the agreements that followed.”
