Passports ‘Stolen’ By the FBI During August 8 Raid, Trump Alleges on Twitter

Ideally, a blue passport is issued to regular citizens of the United States while government diplomats possess the special red 'diplomatic' passport for official government travel

UNITED STATES: On Monday, Donald Trump claimed that Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents “stole” his passports during the raid carried out on August 8 at the former President’s lavish Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. This comes just a day after Trump requested the Department of Justice to return the sensitive documents covered under attorney-client privilege.

In classic Trump fashion, the business-tycoon-cum-staunch-Republican took to Twitter to express his disgust. He wrote, “Wow! In the raid by the FBI of Mar-a-Lago, they stole my three passports (one expired) along with everything else. This is an assault on a political opponent at a level never seen before in our Country. Third World!”

However, the accusatory note does not specify which passport was taken away by the FBI agents. Ideally, a blue passport is issued to regular citizens of the United States while government diplomats possess the special red ‘diplomatic’ passport for official government travel.

Trump has consistently maintained that this raid is similar to a looming World War 3, a grave attack on individual rights to privacy and freedom.

After the raid, Trump issued a statement expressing grave mistrust of the FBI and claiming that the raid was a premeditated attack to thwart his 2024 presidential plans. The statement also mentioned that the agents had cracked open one of Trump’s safes.

It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024, especially based on recent polls, and who will do likewise anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm elections,” Trump added.

After Trump’s statement gained press attention, the public became involved to such an extent that US Attorney General Merrick Garland was forced to announce that his lawyers had moved a motion to unseal portions of the search warrant, while observing the public’s “clear” and “powerful” interest in the case.
