Adelaide Strikers Women Defeats Hobart Hurricanes Women by 48 Runs

Adelaide Strikers extended their winning run to three matches with a convincing 48-run victory over Hobart Hurricanes in Mackay.

AUSTRALIA: Adelaide Strikers Women defeats Hobart Hurricanes Women by 48 runs in the 43rd match of Women’s Big Bash League 2021. After this match, Adelaide Strikers Women goes to the 4th spot in the points table whereas Hobart Hurricanes Women is out of the tournament as they are in the 7th spot with 7 points in 12 games.

In this match after winning the toss, Hobart Hurricanes Women decided to field first. Hobart Hurricanes got their first breakthrough at the very first over of the match as Adelaide Strikers opening batter Katie Mack got out after scoring 1 off 5 deliveries and Adelaide Strikers were 2/1 after 1 over.

After the fall of the first wicket, Dane van Niekerk and Laura Wolvaardt put up a 47 runs partnership. Molly Strano took the wicket of Laura Wolvaardt to break the partnership. Dane van Niekerk scored 44 runs off 38 deliveries which included 5 fours. After Dane van Niekerk got out, Tahlia McGrath and Bridget Patterson stitched up a 54 runs partnership in the last 5 overs to take the Adelaide Strikers Women to 142/4 after 20 overs.

Tahlia McGrath scored 38 runs off 37 deliveries which included 3 fours whereas Bridget Patterson scored 25 off 17 deliveries which included 2 fours and 1 six. For Hobart Hurricanes Women, Molly Strano took 2 wickets and Tayla Vlaeminck and Nicola Carey took 1 wicket each.

Hobart Hurricanes Women had the worst of the starts as they lost both their opening batters in quick succession. Hobart Hurricanes were 16/2 after 3.2 overs.

Mignon du Preez was looking good but after scoring 21 runs off 24 deliveries she got out and after that Hobart Hurricanes kept losing quick wickets. Darcie Brown broke the backbone of Hobart Hurricanes’ batting lineup with her beautiful bowling spell.
