Haibike’s Lyke e-MTB Brings a New Level of Innovation to the Market

GERMANY: German e-bicycle expert Haibike a renowned entity in the trail-blazing electric bicycle scene, released the Lyke, its latest offering to the e-MTB community.

Haibike expects its Lyke e-MTB to take the industry by storm

Many people associate the Haibike brand with e-bikes that are big, bulky, and burly up until this point. However, Haibike has chosen a sleeker, more streamlined aesthetic for its most recent model, the Lyke, while maintaining a premium e-MTB in all other respects.

A Fazua Ride 60 motor drives the new Haibike Lyke. The Fazua motor, praised for its compact and lightweight design, allows Haibike to create a slimmer and lighter frame. The result is an electric mountain bike with a travel of 140 millimetres that weighs no more than 18.5 kilograms in its most expensive SE trim level.

Because of its lightweight development and minimized design, Fazua Motor Technology (Porsche-owned) is consistently yet definitely advancing onto increasingly lighter, mid-level assist e-bicycles.

Interestingly, the Lyke’s Fazua motor is positioned straight up, into the seat tube, unlike their usual position, which usually integrates into the downtube. A lower overall centre of gravity, which enables optimal traction and stability even on technical terrain, appears to be the benefit.

The Fazua Ride 60 weighs just 4.2 kilograms, including the 430-Wh battery pack that slides right above the bottom bracket easily into and out of the frame.

The customer can add a 210-Wh range extender, bringing the total capacity to 640 Wh. The Ride 60 delivers 60 Nm of torque and three ride modes—breeze, river, and rocket—in terms of power output.

Additionally, there is a handy walk mode, which lets you push the bike around walking areas. The Haibike Lyke eBike is available at three price points. However, they all feature the same Fazua Ride 60 Motor and a full carbon frame.

The eBike has a RockShox Deluxe Select+ Shock and a RockShox Lyrik Select fork suspension. The Lyke 10 starts at £5,699 in the Leather and Orange colourway. The e-Bike includes a 12-speed SRAM SX/NX drivetrain.

The Carbon/Sand/Lime colour scheme is available on the Lyke 11, which is more expensive and costs £6,599. Lastly, the most expensive Haibike Lyke SE is available in the Navy/Bronze colourway and costs £8,799.

Pokhara’s New Airport Enhances Nepal’s International Connectivity

0

NEPAL: On Sunday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda inaugurated Nepal’s third international airport in Pokhara, a popular tourist destination in western Nepal. China assisted Nepal in the construction of the airport.

Pokhara’s international airport is a symbol of Nepal-China cooperation

A week after he was named prime minister, Prachanda unveiled a plaque to commemorate the official opening of the Pokhara Regional International Airport (PRIA).

The construction of PRIA and an important Nepal-China Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) collaboration project used Chinese loans.

Bishnu Paudel, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, and other high-ranking officials were also in attendance.

International flights at Pokhara’s international airport will begin after the second week of February. In March 2016, the government of Lake City agreed to a USD 215.96 million soft loan agreement with China for building the new airport.

In his remarks at the event, Prachanda, who is supposedly close to China, emphasized that aerial connectivity is the most efficient method of connectivity for a landlocked nation like Nepal.

Prachanda announced the commencement of the airport in Pokhara, the third international airport in the country. He felt that the opening of this airport had established Pokhara’s relationship with the international community.

In addition, the Prime Minister requested assistance from the Chinese government to develop railway services and other projects and facilitate the opening of border crossings with China.

According to Wang Xin, the Charge de Affaires of the Chinese Embassy, the airport was built and designed per Chinese standards, which exemplifies the high quality of Chinese engineering and symbolizes Nepal’s national honour.

In the meantime, Krishna Chandra Pokharel, Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, pleaded with the Chinese government to convert the loan it provided for the Pokhara airport construction project into grants.

Pokharel expressed the hope that the international airport would significantly boost the number of tourists visiting the town.

Mjolnir’s Absence a Smart Move for God of War Ragnarök

0

INDIA: Before the release of God of War Ragnarök, fan speculation was rife that Thor would kill Kratos in the first hour, while others thought Odin would punch Atreus back in time.

However, many players believed they could use the fabled Mjolnir hammer at some point in the game, even though fans’ mileage on each of these theories varied.

Even though some fans are still a little disappointed, that never happened, and it ended up being the right choice for God of War Ragnarök.

Dissecting the capabilities of Mjolnir in God of War Ragnarök

Mjolnir has been featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for more than ten years, making it one of the most well-known mystical weapons ever.

When players see such a well-known weapon for the first time in the game, it only makes sense that they would want to use it for themselves.

However, for the good of God of War Ragnarök, Santa Monica Studios exercised restraint by preventing players from wielding Mjolnir.

One of the most notorious weapons ever, Mjolnir is innately cool, having the option to boomerang around adversaries and outfit lightning voluntarily.

However, Santa Monica chose the more difficult but rewarding path because wielding Mjolnir would not have made much sense in God of War Ragnarök’s gameplay or story.

Mjolnir would not be as unique from a gameplay perspective as players might initially believe.

Mjolnir’s ability to be thrown and retrieved, similar to the Leviathan Axe, is one of its biggest tricks. Aside from that, the weapon itself would not require a stand-alone move set, at least not one significantly different from the axe.

Additionally, Mjolnir is just a conduit for Thor’s inherent powers, so it is unlikely that the player would be able to shoot lightning from it. As a result, players would have a weapon that is essentially just another version of the Leviathan Axe at the end of the game.

Yet, by a long shot, the best result of Kratos not having the option to employ Mjolnir in Ragnarök is that Kratos, also known as the Ghost of Sparta, at last, gets his very own weapon.

A brand-new Draupnir Spear weapon is given to players approximately halfway through God of War Ragnarök.

There are numerous story and gameplay advantages to this weapon. Draupnir has a ranged attack that is quite distinctive and versatile, and its controls are very different from those of the Blades of Chaos and Leviathan Axe.

Kratos no longer needs to use Ares’ cursed Blades or his wife’s axe; instead, he will finally be able to use a weapon that reflects who he is.

Rohit Shetty’s “Cirkus” Falls Flat at the Box Office

INDIA: Since its release, Rohit Shetty’s movie, Cirkus, starring Ranveer Singh, has struggled at the box office. The movie has been in theatres for over a week.

However, it has struggled to make even Rs 30 crore rupees at the box office in India. Cirkus is one of the least-performing movies by Ranveer Singh and Rohit Shetty. Since the release, the comedy feature bagged negative reviews from audience as well as critics.

In the coming days, Cirkus is likely to be taken out of theatres

Rohit Shetty was in charge of producing and directing the period comedy Cirkus. Ranveer Singh appears in dual roles in the movie.

The supporting cast includes Jacqueline Fernandez, Pooja Hegde, Johhny Lever, Mukesh Tiwari, Siddhartha Jadhav, Sanjay Mishra, Murli Sharma, Sulbha Arya, and Vrajesh Hirjee. Additionally, the film features notable cameos from Deepika Padukone and Ajay Devgn.

Rohit Shetty’s directorial Cirkus is a remake of the 1982 Hindi film Angoor, which is also a remake of 1968 Hindi film Do Dooni Chaar.

The latter was a remake of the Bengali film Bhranti Bilas, which came out in 1963. All the mentioned film are adaptation of William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors.

Cirkus is said to have earned between Rs 1.8 and 2 crores on Day 7 of its release. The total amount collected at the box office for the movie is between Rs 27.4 and Rs 27.4 crore.

As indicated by reports, film proprietors are considering lessening the shows of Ranveer Singh’s Cirkus and allocating them to James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water.

Avatar 2 has enjoyed a phenomenal run at the box office in India, where it has already earned more than Rs 280 crore.

Avatar-The Way of Water has so far earned more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office. The movie has become the fifth most successful film of 2022.

In the meantime, Drishyam 2, starring Ajay Devgn, is also doing well at the box office. The movie has become a blockbuster after earning more than Rs 200 crore at the box office.

The Electric Vehicle Revolution Continues with the New Kia EV9

INDIA: The EV9 SUV, Kia’s flagship electric model, is gearing up for unveiling in the first quarter of 2023.

With a wheelbase that is 7.8 inches (20 centimetres) longer than Kia’s Palisade model, which is its ICE equivalent in the line-up, this upright and rather boxy three-row SUV rides on the same E-GMP platform as the EV6. However, it has a much larger footprint and a significantly more spacious cabin.

The Korean automaker recently released a teaser video showing a partially revealed production EV9, teasing its side profile, rear light cluster design, and a portion of its front fascia.

It is interesting to note that the company announced in the video that it would fully reveal the model during the Auto Expo, which will take place in New Delhi from January 12 to 15, by posting it on its Indian website and Twitter account.

It’s not yet clear to assume that this will be the vehicle’s global debut or its reveal in advance, and this will be the first time India will witness the car.

The overall dimensions of the concept Kia EV9 will remain, but its design will be different and more subtle. The EV9 concept car has a wheelbase of 3.1 metres (122 inches) and a length of almost 5 metres (197 inches), which should give it enough room inside for all three rows of seats and headroom, given the height of the vehicle.

Most of the current E-GMP model’s battery packs have a nominal capacity of 77.4 kWh, of which about 74 kWh are usable, so an increase in battery capacity is anticipated.

The EV9 and other larger E-GMP-based vehicles, such as the Hyundai Ioniq 7, are said to have around 100 kWh, giving them a range of just under 500 kilometres on a single charge.

According to expectations, the EV9 will go into production toward the end of 2023. There is a good chance that Kia will offer more than one battery pack option, and the most affordable entry point will be the base model with rear-wheel drive.

Saudi Arabian Club Al Nassr Secures Ronaldo’s Services in Massive $200 Million Deal

0

PORTUGAL: On Friday, Cristiano Ronaldo signed a lucrative deal to join Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr. The signing is a significant development for football in the Middle East, but it will witness one of Europe’s most prominent stars leave the sport’s elite stage.

After Ronaldo signed a contract until June 2025, Al Nassr shared a photo on social media of him holding up the team’s jersey. The club called the move “history in the making.”

Al Nassr, in a statement made after the signing, said that it would not only inspire the club to achieve even greater success but also inspire the “league, the nation, and the future generations, boys and girls,” to be the best versions of themselves.

Additionally, it provides Ronaldo, who is 37 years old, with a substantial payday in what could be his final contract. According to media reports, the Portugal star could earn up to $200 million per year from the agreement, making him the most generously compensated football player ever.

“Eager to experience a new football league in a different country,” Ronaldo said in a statement.

The forward continued that he felt it was the right moment to share his experience in Asia. He said that he is fortunate to have won everything in European football.

Even though the deal is a massive boost for football in the Middle East, it will also stoke the debate about Saudi Arabia’s use of so-called “sports washing” to improve its international image.

Newcastle is a Premier League team owned by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund. The Middle Eastern nation is also considering bidding to host the 2030 World Cup.

Following an explosive television interview in which Ronaldo criticized manager Erik ten Hag and the club’s owners after being benched and even temporarily suspended by the club, Manchester United released Ronaldo from his contract with the team.

He also just concluded a disappointing World Cup, where he was benched in the knockout rounds and left the field in tears after Portugal lost to Morocco in the quarterfinals.

And after a legendary career that saw him win the Champions League with Manchester United and Real Madrid, as well as league and cup titles in England, Spain, and Italy, he appears to be spending his final years away from the spotlight of top European football.

Although Saudi Arabia defeated eventual champion Argentina in its first group-stage match at the World Cup in Qatar last month, the domestic league has few other stars and is not watched by a significant international audience.

Indian Astronomers Make Headlines with Major Variable Star Discovery in NGC 381

0

INDIA: Indian Astronomers made the global news with major variable star discovery in NGC 381.

Total of 57 variable stars have been found in NGC 381

According to researchers from India’s Physical Research Laboratory and the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), 57 variable stars have been found in the NGC 381 open cluster field.

The team of researchers published a paper detailing the discovery on the arXiv preprint server on December 19. Open clusters (OCs) are groups of stars loosely gravitationally bound to one another and formed from the same enormous molecular cloud.

Over 1,000 OCs have been found in the Milky Way so far, and researchers are still looking for more in the hope of finding a variety of these stellar clusters.

Elaborating and gaining a more profound knowledge of the list of known galactic OCs and conducting in-depth research on them could be essential to better understanding our galaxy’s formation and evolution.

Variable star detection and research, particularly in OC environments, may provide crucial insights into the stellar structure and evolutionary aspects. It is also helpful for expanding our understanding of the universe’s distance scale.

NGC 381—also known as Collinder 10, is a sparse open cluster of intermediate age with a radius of 15 light years and a mass of approximately 32.4 solar masses. The 3,700 light-years away in the Cassiopeia constellation.

Although NGC 381 has been the subject of numerous investigations, very little is known about the number of variable stars in it.

Due to the lack of knowledge about the stellar cluster, a group of astronomers led by Jayanand Maurya of ARIES carried out the first study of NGC 381 and its surroundings’ variability.

The researchers used the 1.3-m Devasthal Fast Optical Telescope (DFOT) in India to study the stellar cluster.

The study found that 10 of the 57 variable stars identified are eclipsing binaries, eight of which are of the W UMa type (EW) and two of the Algol type (EA).

In addition, there are two pulsating variable stars—one of the Delta Scuti type and one of the Gamma Doradus type—and fifteen rotational variable stars in the sample.

There was no way to categorize the remaining thirty variables; They were therefore referred to as “miscellaneous type variables” by the researchers.

According to the paper’s authors, the characterization of these variables requires a spectroscopic study and additional time-series data.

The Story of Michael Schumacher’s Skiing Accident and Recovery

0

UNITED KINGDOM: Michael Schumacher, the seven-time Formula One World Champion, is considered one of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport.

On December 29th, 2013, Michael Schumacher suffered a severe head injury after crashing against a rock while skiing in the French Alps and has been in a coma ever since.

Since the incident, very little information has been released about Michael Schumacher’s condition. His family has maintained a strict level of privacy, releasing only periodic statements to update the public on his progress.

In 2016, reports revealed that Schumacher had been transferred from the Grenoble hospital, where he received initial treatment, to a rehabilitation facility in Switzerland.

In the years since his injury, rumours and speculation about Schumacher’s condition have run rampant, with some suggesting that he had made significant progress in his recovery. In contrast, others claimed that he was still in a vegetative state.

In 2017, Schumacher’s manager, Sabine Kehm, released a statement denying reports that he could walk again, stating that “Michael’s health is not a public issue, and so we will continue to make no comment in that regard.”

Despite lacking information, Schumacher’s fans and supporters have remained fiercely loyal, with many organising events and fundraisers in his honour.

In 2017, a group of fans organised a charity bike ride from Amsterdam to the hospital where Schumacher received treatment, raising over $200,000 for brain injury research.

In recent years, Schumacher’s family has faced criticism for their handling of the situation, with some accusing them of being too secretive and not doing enough to keep the public informed.

However, it is clear that the family’s primary concern is Schumacher’s privacy and well-being.

In 2018, the Michael Schumacher Exhibition opened in Marburg, Germany, showcasing the driver’s career and achievements. The exhibition was met with widespread acclaim and drew thousands of visitors.

In 2019, Netflix released a documentary titled “Schumacher” about Schumacher’s life and career. The film, produced with the Schumacher family’s support, provided an intimate look at the driver’s life, from his early years racing go-karts to his dominant reign in Formula One.

As the years continue to pass, the legacy of Michael Schumacher remains strong. The F1 community will always remember Michael Schumacher as one of the greatest drivers in the history of motorsports and will never forget his impact on the sport.

While his condition may remain a mystery to the public, his influence on the racing world will continue to be felt for generations to come.
