FIFA World Cup 2022: Gakpo’s Brilliance Helps Netherlands Beat Qatar 2-0

0

QATAR: With a 2-0 victory over Qatar, Netherlands qualified for the World Cup’s last 16 stages by securing the top spot in Group A.

Qatar was outclassed by Netherlands

After losing to Senegal 3-1, the Qataris were out of contention for the knockout stages of the World Cup. Despite spending a lot of money on cutting-edge facilities to host the World Cup, they failed again on the field.

The Qataris had their moments in a lacklustre first half, forcing a few corners and posing a threat on the edge of the Dutch area, but Gakpo scored a gut-wrenching goal as soon as they bared their teeth.

Cody Gakpo scored his third tournament goal midway through the first half, and Frenkie de Jong added a second shortly after the break.

The team led by Louis van Gaal advanced to the knockout stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where they will face the runner-up from Group B, which could be either England, Iran, the United States, or Wales.

As a consequence of the defeat to Netherlands, Qatar became the first host nation in World Cup history not to earn a single point or register a win.

Gakpo was the star of the day for Netherlands. He has played exceptionally throughout the tournament so far. Gakpo scored in the 26th minute to give his team the lead in the match.

He scored with a header against Senegal in the opener and with his left against Ecuador. He completed his perfect hat trick with a right-footed shot from inside the area against Qatar.

Memphis Depay, placed at the far post, received the ball from a cross by Davy Klaassen that deflected off a defender’s head. The goalkeeper saved Depay’s close-range effort, but De Jong, who was in the vicinity, poked it into the empty net from a few yards out to make double the Netherlands lead.

The Dutch missed a goal after Gakpo seemed to have handled the ball in the build-up to the goal, but they still cruised to victory despite Qatar’s lack of quality to mount a comeback.

Audi Launches New RS6 and RS7 Performance Series with Added Power and Torque

UNITED STATES: Audi is introducing an all-new Performance Series with an upgraded twin-turbo, 4.0-liter engine in the RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback.

Despite Audi’s vow to strictly launch only electric vehicles from 2026, there are still plenty of new cars to come with an internal combustion engine.

Delivered to the classic Audi Quattro system, the potent TFSI V8 now produces 621 HP and 850 Nm of torque.

Audi has increased output by 30 HP and 50 Nm compared to the standard models.

The all-new Audi cars can now sprint to 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.4 seconds, which is two-tenths of a second faster than before thanks to the additional power.

The RS Dynamic Package is standard on the RS6 Performance and RS7 Performance. It raises the top speed to 1280 km/h and adds rear-wheel steering.

In addition to getting a new engine, the RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback get a new self-locking centre differential that is lighter and smaller.

The new differential’s function is to direct the engine’s power in a rear-biased ratio since 60 percent of the engine’s output is channelled to the rear under normal driving conditions.

The traction can be transferred up to 70–85% to the rear wheels or the front axle. The transfer depends on the amount of traction available.

When the driver pushes the car hard, this new hardware reduces the risk of understeering and sharpens handling when cornering.

The Performance models come standard with wheels made of 21-inch cast aluminium that can be upgraded to 22-inch wheels by the customer.

A 22-inch lightweight made with a high-tech forging-milling process shaves off around five kilogrammes of weight compared to the standard 22-inch wheel. As a result, the car shed 20 kilogrammes from its overall weight.

The Continental Sport Contact 7 285/30 tyres with these new wheels promise to improve grip on dry and wet roads and cut the distance required to reach a standstill from 100 km/h by two meters.

Replacing the standard steel set with ceramic brakes can reduce the weight even further, by up to 34 kg.

The lighter brakes with callipers available in red, blue, or grey colours are part of the optional RS Dynamic Package Plus, raising the top speed to 305 km/h. They measure 440 mm front and 370 mm rear.

Audi has integrated a blinking shift indicator into the 12.3-inch digital driver’s display when the eight-speed Tiptronic transmission is in manual mode. When the launch control system is activated, these indicate the ideal time to accelerate off the line.

The LED projectors mounted inside the front doors display the “RS Performance” lettering as a final touch.

Audi has yet to announce the price for the US market, but customers can expect to pay more than the $118,900 price of a standard 2023 RS6 Avant. The regular price of the 2023 RS7 Sportback is $120,900.

Schuberth Launches Its New E2 Modular Adventure Helmet

GERMANY: The modular E1, derived from the C3 Pro and offered in an off-road version with a removable peak, marked Schuberth’s entry into the adventure helmet market in 2015.

Schuberth’s E2 helmet features

For 2023, the new E2 will replace the E1. Like the E1, the new E2 helmet incorporates touring and adventure helmet-style aesthetics with Schuberth’s well-known modular system.

The second Schuberth helmet to receive double P/J homologation is the E2, which meets the new ECE R22.06 standard. The double homologation means the helmet is safe even with the chin bar flipped up.

To improve safety while simultaneously reducing weight, the German equipment manufacturer has developed a brand-new fiberglass shell reinforced with carbon fibre to provide enhanced shock absorption and impact dissipation. A brand-new dual-density EPS liner lies in conjunction with it.

Additional modifications introduced to the E2 increase its versatility as an ADV and touring helmet. The removable peak, in particular, is now more vibration-absorbent and can be adjusted in three different ways.

The ventilation system features modified air inlets and extractors to increase airflow. Airflow is necessary mainly at the chin guard, where it is essential to prevent fogging of the visor.

There is now a washable and replaceable filter to keep pollution and dust out. There is padding that the wearer can adjust and an antimicrobial liner inside the helmet that is Oeko-Tex 100 certified. Additionally, there is an integrated drop-down sunscreen and a position-memory visor mechanism.

The helmet is also ready to receive the SENA SC2 intercom system because it seamlessly incorporates the speakers and the three MESH, Bluetooth, and FM antennas.

Contingent upon the size, Schuberth pronounces a weight going from 1,675 grams to 1,860 grams. The reported weight ranges from 1,830 grams to 2,050 grams depending on the accessories.

The Schuberth E2 helmet is available for $725 (Rs 59,236.49) in three primary colours and $757 (Rs 61,848.04) in seven variations.

FIFA World Cup 2022: Casemiro’s Late Goal Guides Brazil to 1-0 Win over Switzerland

0

QATAR: Brazil advanced to the World Cup’s knockout rounds in Qatar thanks to a late Casemiro goal against Switzerland on Monday.

In a dull first half, Brazil, without their star forward Neymar because of an ankle injury, rarely challenged Switzerland for a goal, but they were more dangerous in the second half of the game.

In the 66th minute, Vinicius Jr. charged through to the goal and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Yann Sommer. However, the referee disallowed the goal after an offside call during the build-up.

Casemiro, on the other hand, was the hero for the five-time champions when he came up with a fantastic half-volley in the 83rd minute to secure a narrow victory and a spot in the World Cup’s last 16 stages.

Brazil is now three points ahead of second-placed Switzerland

The World Cup match at Doha’s Stadium 974 had all the characteristics of a typical Brazilian home game. The thunderous roars accompanying each fancy move to the rhythmic beat drummed out throughout, making it hard to believe that the Arabian Peninsula was the host of the match.

Before Casemiro’s moment of magic, the Brazilians had only won three of their nine encounters with Switzerland, with four encounters ending in draws and two losses. Monday’s game seemed no different as the two teams appeared to be heading for another deadlock.

Halftime substitute Rodrygo played a first-time ball to Casemiro, who hit it with the outside of his foot and went past Sommer. The Swiss goalkeeper watched as the ball beat him and went into the nets.

Even though Rodrygo assisted, Casemiro and Brazil have Vinicius Jr. to thank for the match-winning goal. Brazil’s newest superstar had drawn three desperate Swiss defenders onto him, creating space for the goal.

The Brazilian brilliance dragged down the Swiss, and the match could have ended with a score of two or three. However, that would have been unfair to the Europeans, who, for the most part, outplayed their opponents.

However, the Swiss can be encouraged by their performance, and if they win against Serbia in their final World Cup group match, they will advance along with Brazil.

FIFA World Cup: Kudus’ Double Clinches Thrilling Victory for Ghana, Defeat South Korea 3-2

0

QATAR: Mohammed Kudus scored twice in a thrilling game as Ghana defeated South Korea 3-2. Ghana registered their first win in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The effort from Kudus gave Ghana their first win of the tournament and kept their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages alive.

Kudus’ blazing shot delivered Ghana’s first victory in world cup

South Korea applied pressure on Ghana early in the game, forcing seven corners in the first 20 minutes. After a goalmouth melee in the 24th minute, Mohammed Salisu gave Ghana the lead against the odds.

Ten minutes later, Kudus scored two goals with a precise glancing header after Jordan Ayew’s cross from the left was beautifully delivered. However, around the hour mark, two daring Cho Gue-Sung headers three minutes apart brought South Korea back to level the tense match.

In the 68th minute, Kudus added his tally of goals of the game, his second, with a well-taken finish to make it 3-2. Ghana returned from the Education City Stadium with three points from the win, keeping their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages alive, and Salisu had to clear off the line late on.

South Korean players showed immense grit in the game’s later stages, coming close to scoring a levelling goal, but weren’t able to convert the scoring opportunities. Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati denied Cho Gue Song the leveller goal with a great save 4 minutes into the extra time in the end.

With their first tournament victory, Ghana is in charge of their destiny of qualifying for the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup going into Friday’s final match against Uruguay.

Ghana, ranked 61st in the world, joined Portugal on three points. Uruguay and South Korea each have one point to show from their games. Ghana is the lowest-ranked team in the FIFA World Cup. Later on Monday, Portugal and Uruguay will play each other in their 2nd Group H match.

South Korea can meet all requirements for the World Cup’s knockout stages if they beat Portugal in their upcoming game on Friday. It will be a tall task for the Asian team to conquer the European heavyweights.

Football Fans Blame Germany for Hypocrisy: Admirers Back Mesut Ozil

0

QATAR: All eyes were on Germany’s “OneLove” armband protest ahead of the high-octane clash between Spain and Germany, two European superpowers.

In support of freedom of speech, Germany players cupped their mouths during the team photo during their first match against Japan.

During Germany’s World Cup match against Spain, Qatari fans held up pictures of Mesut Ozil while covering their mouths with their hands. The German footballers had made the same gesture before their shocking loss to Japan in the first game.

Football fans had urged the Germans to concentrate on the game following the appalling defeat to Japan. In contrast, others lamented the double standards with which they treated former player Mesut Ozil.

The coordinated display was obviously in light of German players’ signal on Wednesday when they covered their mouths to challenge FIFA following the administering body’s clampdown on the “One Love” armband.

The fans’ gesture was a reaction to FIFA prohibiting seven European groups’ arrangements to wear armbands, an act viewed by many as a rebuke to host nation Qatar and its objectionable human rights record.

On Sunday, Qatari fans referred to Germany’s questionable treatment of Mesut Ozil, the former German national team player who quit after becoming the target of racist abuse and a scapegoat for Germany’s early exit from the World Cup in 2018.

In 2018, days after Germany returned home after the team’s humiliating World Cup campaign, Reinhard Grindel, the president of the German football association (DFB), demanded a public statement from Mesut Ozil.

The Arsenal star had met Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, before the marquee event, which triggered the move from Grindel.

Having received the cap 93 times for his country, Ozil delivered a three-part explanation soon after the 2018 controversy. He elaborated on his meeting with Erdogan and the subsequent criticism.

After that, the ex-Arsenal star slammed Grindel and announced his retirement from international play.

Fans present against Spain were mocking the apparent double standards of Germany’s treatment of Ozil, presently 34.

GPU Market Tumbles as Sales Observe a Massive Drop in Buyers

0

INDIA: According to a report by Tom’s Hardware, an online publication focused on technology, the GPU market is witnessing a massive drop in shipments of GPUs. The deliveries of GPUs, both discrete and integrated, have dropped to a 10-year low in the third quarter (Q3).

According to the report, purchases of existing GPUs by gamers have fallen, while PC OEMs have decreased their purchases of CPUs as they wait for the most recent, more powerful cards to hit the market.

On the other hand, with the recent changes to Ethereum, crypto miners who also kept GPUs for their mining efforts stopped buying GPUs. As a result, sales of standalone graphics cards for desktop computers have dropped to an all-time low.

To assemble and sell computers during the holiday and back-to-school seasons, PC manufacturers frequently place additional orders for PC hardware components in the third quarter when they see the most sales.

However, there has also been a decrease in PC demand, which has led manufacturers to reduce their purchasing and sell off any remaining stock.

According to a report from Jon Peddie Research, this has led to a decline in integrated and discrete GPU sales to 75.5 million units in Q3 2022, which is down 10.5 percent sequentially and 25.1 percent year-over-year.

In addition, desktop GPU shipments decreased by 15.43%, while notebook GPU shipments decreased by 30%, the most significant decline since the recession of 2009.

Intel is currently the biggest CPU manufacturer and the biggest PC GPU supplier. In Q3 of 2022, Intel increased its dominance and commanded 72% of the PC GPU market, as sales of its proprietary GPUs increased by 4.7%.

On the other hand, Nvidia lost 19.7% of sales, resulting in a 16% share reduction. While AMD’s share dropped to 12% as its GPU shipments decreased by 47.6%.

According to a statement released by Jon Peddie, president of Jon Peddie Research, the companies gave “various and sometimes similar” reasons for the low sales of CPUs.

The obstacles posed by China’s zero-tolerance policies and rolling shutdowns, US sanctions, the purchasing situation of users during Covid, and overhang inventory run-down, are just a few of the factors that have contributed to the shutdown.

FIFA World Cup 2022: Mbappe’s Double Sends France into Last-16, Defeats Denmark 2-1

0

QATAR: France became the first team to advance to the World Cup round of 16 in Qatar with a narrow 2-1 victory over Denmark on Saturday thanks to two goals from Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe’s thriller shot catapults France to the victory

After playing a clever on-two with teammate Theo Hernandez, Mbappe scored with a prod into the nets just after the hour mark to give France the lead in the Group D match.

However, Denmark responded with a crushing header from defender Andreas Christensen to tie the score.

The Paris-Saint-Germain striker arose again late to convert a cross from Antoine Griezmann and guaranteed that France remained in their World Cup title defence.

Mbappe now sits on the same level as French ace Zinedine Zidane, on the country’s all-time scoring list with 31 goals.

The outcome on Saturday places France at the top of Group D with six points, three ahead of Australia, which is in second place. On the other hand, Denmark has yet to win a match and has only one point so far for its efforts.

France had the better chances in the first half, with Adrien Rabiot getting close with a header and the Danes having to make several blocks to keep their clean sheet in the World Cup. The first half was tight and tense despite the dominance of France.

It didn’t last long, and Mbappe scored in the 61st minute to give France the lead. He scored with a bouncer first time from Hernandez’s clever pull-back to cap off a fantastic, fast French counter.

Christensen equalized for the Danes seven minutes later by sneaking behind the French defences and stooping to head home. Christen is renowned for always being a threat from set pieces.

Rabiot missed a spectacular volley in the 80th minute. A minute later, substitute Martin Braithwaite missed a first-time effort just wide of the near post. Neither team seemed satisfied with a draw.

Mbappe popped up at the far post in the 86th minute to cushion home a close-range cross from Griezmann to restore the lead and send the traveling French fans into raptures.

Denmark went all out to get a second goal and left a lot of space at the back. However, their late attacks against a team they beat twice in the last Nations League campaign lacked meticulousness, and the French held on for the win that got them through.

FIFA World Cup 2022: Lewandowski Shines as Poland Drubs Saudi Arabia 2-0

0

QATAR: Robert Lewandowski’s first World Cup goal and Wojciech Szczesny’s stellar effort with the gloves gave Poland a 2-0 victory over Saudi Arabia, sending them to the top of Group C.

The Green Falcons missed multiple chances at the Education City Stadium in their second game.

Poland propels on the victorious path

Poland took the lead in the 39th minute, thanks to Piotr Zielinski. Robert Lewandowski stopped a rebound from Mohammed Al-Burayk before denying Salem Al-Dawsari a goal from the spot in first-half stoppage time.

In a frantic second half of the game, Poland hit the woodwork two times while Szczesny denied Al-Dawsari again from short proximity.

Szczesny tipped over Mohamed Kanno’s 13th-minute shot from inside the box after Saudi Arabia went into the game with high confidence after pulling off one of the greatest upsets of the World Cup ever against Argentina.

However, a low cross from Matty Cash found Lewandowski, who sent the ball over the goalkeeper and pulled it back for Zielinski to score Poland’s second goal.

Four minutes later, Saudi Arabia received a penalty after a VAR review determined that Krystian Bielik had fouled Saleh Al-Shehri.

However, Al-Dawsari, the Saudi captain who scored the game-winning goal against Argentina, had a low spot kick saved by Szczesny, who then spectacularly blocked Al-Burayk’s subsequent shot.

Poland came close to doubling their lead in the second half. Arkadiusz Milik’s header bounced off the crossbar, while Lewandowski managed to find the post with his kick.

However, the Barcelona striker finally scored his first FIFA World Cup goal as he pounced on Al-Malki’s mistake to coolly slide home past Mohamed Al-Owais, eliciting emotional celebrations from the striker. Al-Malki had missed a penalty in Tuesday’s goalless draw with Mexico.

Saudi Arabia can still advance to the knockout stages in their final match against Mexico. At the same time, Poland needs only a draw in their last game on Wednesday against Argentina to qualify.
