The real fireworks, however, were ignited by the explosive partnership between Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed. The fifth-wicket partnership, worth a whopping 214 runs, left the Nepalese bowlers grasping at straws.

Iftikhar Ahmed’s stunning knock of 109 not out off 71 balls showcased his prowess and marked a significant milestone as he secured his maiden ODI century. His aggressive approach and powerful strokes left the opposition reeling.

Nepal’s bowlers were unable to find a breakthrough as Babar and Iftikhar built their partnership, propelling Pakistan to a total that would ultimately prove insurmountable.

In response, Nepal struggled to contend with Pakistan’s total, managing to score only 104 runs before being bowled out. Sompal Kami (28) was the highest scorer from Nepal.

Pakistan’s bowlers were in fine form, capitalizing on the pressure built by their batting counterparts. Shadab Khan was the best of the Pakistan bowlers, taking 4/27.

The comprehensive victory reflected Pakistan’s dominance in all facets of the game and sent a clear message to the other teams participating in the tournament. As the Asia Cup 2023 gathers momentum, Pakistan’s convincing win over Nepal in the opener has set the stage for an exciting tournament ahead.
