BANGLADESH: Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s unbeaten 38-run innings helped Bangladesh defeat India by one wicket in the opening one-day international of the three-match series on Sunday. The match was played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

When Bangladesh started the chase, they lost wickets quickly, one after the other, and were nine down before Mehidy steadied the innings and led his team to victory with one wicket and four overs remaining.

For India, Kuldeep Sen and Washington Sundar each took two wickets, while Mohammed Siraj claimed three.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, expressed his ire at wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul for missing a clear catch opportunity.

The situation occurred during Shardul Thakur’s 43rd over of bowling. Mehidy Hasan Miraz sent a ball in the direction of the third man.

Rahul attempted to finish the catch by covering the ground and settling directly underneath the ball, but he dropped it.

Team India’s dropped catch cost them the game. Meanwhile, Mehidy persevered to lead the home team to a remarkable one-wicket triumph and a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

The Indian side was clearly the favourite today, but Bangladesh completely stunned them.

The tour is comprised of three one days and two
test matches between the nations. The second ODI is on December 7 at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.

The third ODI is on 10 December at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.

The first test will be played on 14 December at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram, followed by the second test on December 22 at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
