INDIA: The Bengaluru Police have successfully thwarted an alleged ISIS-backed plot targeting vital installations within the state, apprehending five terror suspects.
The police made the arrests following a coordinated operation by the Crime Branch, which also led to the recovery of a significant cache of weapons and explosive materials.
The suspects are Syed Suhel, Umar, Janid, Mudasir, and Zahid. The investigation suggests that the group had formulated plans to carry out a destructive blast in Bengaluru, posing a severe threat to public safety.
Disturbingly, all five individuals had previously been accused in a 2017 murder case and were incarcerated at the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail.
During their time in prison, they came into contact with terrorists and became involved in their activities. The Crime Branch’s statement reveals the extent of the weapons and explosive materials seized during the operation.
The recovered items include four walkie-talkies, seven country-made pistols, 42 live bullets, two daggers, two satellite phones, and four grenades. These discoveries underscore the situation’s gravity and the planned attack’s potential magnitude.
