UNITED STATES: President Joe Biden begins his tour of three Western U.S. states on Monday, seeking to energise his reelection campaign by showcasing recent economic progress and the successful funding of new infrastructure initiatives.

Biden’s visit to Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah stands in stark contrast to the historic controversies revolving around his main Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump, who was charged last week for the third time in four months, this time for his extensive efforts to rig the 2020 election.

Biden, who spent the previous week on vacation in his home state of Delaware, has declined to comment on his predecessor’s struggles; he will presumably be his opponent in the 2024 presidential election. The main goal of Biden’s reelection campaign is to inform U.S. citizens about the benefits of the economy and how his legislative programme is improving their quality of life.

Recent polls indicate a steep learning curve despite the fact that the U.S. economy has defied recessionary predictions thanks to record-low unemployment, robust wage growth, and better-than-anticipated GDP growth.

According to a recent Ipsos poll, some Americans who voted for Biden in 2020 feel that the economy hasn’t performed well under his leadership, leading them to consider not voting for him in the 2024 election.

The poll also revealed that around half of these respondents are not aware of his major policy initiatives aimed at reducing inflation and increasing spending on infrastructure.

Biden and other Democrats pushed legislation through Congress that would have allocated $1.5 trillion for new roads, bridge, manufacturing, and climate initiatives.

According to Democratic strategist Jennifer Holdsworth, the trip this week would counter a narrative that the nation’s right-wing media is promoting that misrepresents the economy and Biden’s legislative agenda.

“As President Biden gets out there on the campaign trail, I think you’ll see that trend start to change,” she stated.

This week, senior White House staffers and Cabinet members will disperse across the nation to highlight the achievements of the current administration. These events will include at least a dozen appearances by department heads, advisers, and Vice President Kamala Harris. Signs identifying Biden’s involvement in the bills are being placed at construction sites across the nation.

On Monday night, Biden will travel to Arizona prior to an event on Tuesday where he will promote investments in conservation and the protection of natural resources, as well as his landmark climate change law, the Inflation Reduction Act, or IRA.

One year after the law’s passage, the U.S. president will be in New Mexico on Wednesday to promote the IRA’s contribution to a surge in the production of clean energy. On Thursday, Biden will visit a veteran’s facility in Utah to commemorate the anniversary of the PACT Act and provide aid to veterans affected by military toxic burn pits.
